Clinging to life for a Wild Card berth in the National League, the Cincinnati Reds host the Athletics for a 3-game set starting Tuesday, hoping to cut into 6-game deficit with five teams in between them and the Phillies, who currently hold the final Wild Card spot.
It won’t be easy against the Athletics, who have ripped off wins in six of the last seven head-to-head sets, though still find themselves as road underdogs in the MLB odds.
First pitch goes at 6:40pm ET from the Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, with MLB TV providing the broadcast coverage.

Athletics vs Reds Expert Picks & Props
Tonight’s contest takes place at Great American Ball Park, traditionally considered one of the most hitter-friendly environments in the league. However, through 57 games in 2026, it sits near the middle of the pack in overall run production.
Here are the key offensive metrics at the stadium this season:
- Runs per Game: 8.72 (18th in MLB)
- Hits per Game: 15.32
- Extra-Base Hits per Game: 5.75
- Home Runs per Game: 2.70
While the stadium ranks 18th in runs scored, the 2.70 home runs per game highlight that fly balls still carry well out of the yard. This amplifies Cincinnati starting pitcher Brady Singer’s vulnerabilities, offering a subtle boost to the over on MLB home run props for power bats.
For JT Ginn, the other half of the MLB probable pitchers in this one Tuesday night, keeping the ball on the ground will be paramount. Elevated pitches in this environment often result in immediate extra-base damage, punishing pitchers who struggle to locate effectively.
- Reds moneyline (-149 at bet365): Cincinnati has the cleaner win condition at home: Brady Singer does not need to dominate, but he does need to work around contact against an Athletics lineup missing several important bats. The Athletics are also sending J.T. Ginn back from a finger/blister issue, which creates uncertainty around pitch count, command, and bullpen exposure. The runline price is tempting on Cincinnati at +145, but I prefer not to ask this injury-hit Reds roster to win by margin. The straight moneyline is the better way to isolate the home-field and pitching-depth edge.
- Under 8 Total Runs (-116 at bet365): Great American Ball Park always brings home-run risk, but the injury context matters here. The Athletics are missing major run producers, while Cincinnati is without Spencer Steer and is not operating at full strength offensively. A 9-run total gives enough cushion to play the under, especially if Ginn is managed carefully in his first start back and Singer can avoid the crooked inning. I would not chase this lower than 8.5, but at the posted 9, the under is playable.
- Runline lean: Athletics +1.5 (-196 at bet365): I do not love laying -196 on a runline, so this is a lean rather than a best bet. Still, the market movement toward Athletics +1.5 suggests some resistance to Cincinnati separating by multiple runs. If you need a parlay leg, Athletics +1.5 is defensible, but the price is too expensive for a standalone wager.
- First 5 Innings Total: Under 4.5 (-116 at bet365): The first-five total has moved from 5.5 to 4.5, so the best of the number is gone. At the current price, I still lean under because both lineups are compromised and Ginn’s return may be short but controlled. This is a smaller play than the full-game under.
