  • Nebraska has 15 sacks through four games and has allowed just three
  • Maryland arrives at 2-2 after a 54-3 loss to UCLA

Nebraska hosts Maryland at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln on Saturday, October 3 with a 4 p.m. ET kickoff on FS1. The Cornhuskers are 4-0 and have been the more complete team on both sides of the ball so far.

Maryland is 2-2 and coming off that 54-3 loss to UCLA, a game where the offense never got going. Nebraska won the 2025 meeting 34-31 and leads the recent series 3-1.

My Maryland vs Nebraska prediction weighs that four-game sample against the current spread. Here are the latest college football odds and where I landed on the prediction market board.

I am taking Nebraska to cover the 14.5. Polymarket has the Yes contract at 50 cents, which is the market calling this a coin flip, and I think the Cornhuskers get there more often than that. The line of scrimmage is my reason. Nebraska has allowed three sacks on offense while its own front has piled up 15.

The quarterback gap matters too. Anthony Colandrea has 904 passing yards with a 10-to-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio, plus 141 rushing yards and two scores. Malik Washington has thrown for 1,034 yards but sits at six touchdowns against four interceptions, and all four of those picks came in the UCLA game.

My other reason for backing the Cornhuskers is that Nebraska has allowed only two plays of 25-plus yards all season. Maryland likely has to build long drives to score, and that is a tough way to keep pace with an offense averaging 42.5 points a game.

Covering two touchdowns is a demanding task, and Maryland is capable of putting together a better showing than it did last week. But at even money I will take the stronger team at home in a spot where the underdog has to play close to a clean game.

If you are comparing prediction market apps, these are the current buy prices ahead of kickoff.

Polymarket buy prices as of October 2.

The cent price is simply what one Yes share costs. Every winning contract settles at $1 before fees, so 86 cents on the Nebraska moneyline returns a dollar and keeps 14 cents of profit. If the outcome misses, you lose the 86 cents you paid and nothing beyond that.

That 86-cent price says the market sees an upset as unlikely. The spread is the contested market, with both sides trading within a cent of even money at 14.5, and that is my preferred market for this matchup.

Aerial Assault vs Disruptive Defense

Maryland leans on the passing game, with Chris Durr Jr. leading the team at 35 receptions for 312 yards and three touchdowns. The volume is there. The matchup is the problem, since Nebraska has given up almost nothing over the top and can turn third-and-long into a pass-rush situation.

Ground Efficiency and Game Control

Nebraska converts nearly 53% of its third downs, which keeps drives alive and keeps its own defense off the field. The Cornhuskers have one offensive turnover on the season. Maryland will need a handful of stops it has not shown it can get yet.
