Rising lightweight sensation Keyshawn Davis will look to capture his first world title when he challenges WBO champion Denys Berinchyk this Friday, February 14th at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Davis (12-0, 8 KOs) has been on the fast track to stardom since turning pro after winning silver at the 2020 Olympics. The heavy-handed 25-year-old has torn through his competition, most recently starching Gustavo Lemos in two rounds. Now he’ll step up to face the crafty Berinchyk (19-0, 9 KOs) with lightweight gold on the line.

The 10-fight Berinchyk vs Davis card kicks off at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN/ESPN+, with main event ring walks expected around 11 p.m. ET. The 36-year-old Berinchyk is coming off a split decision upset over Emanuel Navarrete to win the vacant WBO strap last May.

Latest Berinchyk vs Davis Odds

Fighter Odds
Keyshawn Davis -800
Denys Berinchyk +500

Keyshawn Davis is currently a sizable -800 favorite over champion Denys Berinchyk (+500) at ESPN Bet. Based on those odds, Davis has an implied win probability of 88.9% compared to just 16.7% for Berinchyk.

The hefty odds reflect Davis’ rapid ascent up the rankings and his standing as one of boxing’s elite prospects. Turning pro after a decorated amateur career, he’s wasted no time proving he’s a problem at 135 pounds.

However, Berinchyk can’t be overlooked here. The experienced Ukrainian is coming off the biggest win of his career and will be highly motivated to keep his belt. He’s also never been knocked out as a pro.

Denys Berinchyk Betting Outlook & Analysis

Berinchyk proved he’s still a force at 36 when he outworked Navarrete for the title last May. The unorthodox southpaw blends awkward movement, stance switching, and roughhouse tactics to frustrate foes.

Technical boxing skills are also part of his game. Berinchyk utilizes smart footwork, angles, and counterpunching to keep opponents off-balance. Navarrete struggled to time him all night.

However, a lack of one-punch power is Berinchyk’s biggest flaw. He’s never been a big puncher (9 KOs in 19 wins), and that makes it tougher for him to gain respect against hard-charging opponents like Davis.

If Berinchyk can’t keep Davis honest with his shots, he may struggle to slow the challenger’s forward momentum. Surviving Davis’ explosive spurts will be key.

Keyshawn Davis Betting Outlook & Analysis

Davis has been a wrecking ball so far as a pro. The Norfolk native packs legitimate power in both hands and has already starched solid veterans like Miguel Madueño and Gustavo Lemos.

But it’s not just raw power that makes Davis so effective. He’s also an elite counterpuncher who can capitalize as soon as opponents make a mistake. We saw that against Lemos – one lazy jab was all Davis needed to detonate a fight-ending right hand.

When he’s not countering, Davis mixes in aggressive combination work to both the head and body. He puts punches together smoothly for a young fighter and seems to be adding wrinkles each time out.

To beat Berinchyk, Davis needs to cut off the ring and land his power early. He can’t let the mobile champ get in a rhythm with his unorthodox movement and punch variety.

Showing veteran poise will also be important. Berinchyk has a knack for turning fights into ugly affairs when he needs to, so Davis must keep his composure if things get chippy.

Berinchyk vs Davis Prediction & Pick

Give me Davis to capture his first world title on Friday night. While I respect Berinchyk’s experience and toughness, I just think Davis is a special talent catching the veteran champion at the right time.

Berinchyk deserves credit for solving the Navarrete puzzle, but this is a different challenge. Davis is bigger, longer, and far more explosive. His power will be a constant threat.

I expect “The Businessman” to employ lots of movement and veteran tricks to make Davis uncomfortable early. He’ll switch stances, maul inside, and try to extend this into the later rounds.

Ultimately though, I see Davis’ physical advantages being too much. He’ll pressure Berinchyk, capitalize on any openings with his sledgehammer right hand, and pile up enough rounds to win a clear decision.

The height and reach advantages will help Davis control range and get off first. Berinchyk’s work rate could keep it close, but I don’t think he’ll land enough damaging blows to truly threaten the young gun.

  • Pick: Keyshawn Davis to win by points or technical decision (-115 at ESPN Bet )
