Yuriorkis Gamboa was initially supposed to take part in this contest, but an injured rib put the kibosh on that idea.

Nyambayar stepped up on short notice and jumped up a weight category to take this fight.

Tugstsogt Nyambayar’s Resume

Tugstsogt Nyambayar is a former WBC featherweight world title challenger and also a former Olympian.

Nyambayar is a stiffer test for Colbert than Gamboa was as he is ten years younger and has much more tread on the proverbial tires.

King Tug steps into the ring on the heels of handing a pro pugilist his first defeat. This came in the form of a split decision win over Cobia Breedy in September.

The former IBO featherweight world champion is looking to treat Saturday night as a big coming-out party.

One where he halts the progress of one of the brightest rising stars in the sweet science in Chris Colbert.

Chris Colbert Unbeaten Champion

Chris Colbert looks to make the sophomore defense of his interim WBA championship this weekend. With the interim belt in his possession, a strong win here could vault him towards fighting the WBA’s undisputed champion in that weight class, Gervonta Davis.

Despite his sub-fifty percent stoppage rate, Colbert has a myriad of tools in his proverbial toolbox. He has dizzying speed and skill, as well as a multifaceted, exciting combatant to watch.

Colbert’s last outing saw him garner an eleventh-round TKO against Jaime Arboleda in December.

These 130-pound competitors match up well with Colbert possessing a four-inch reach edge and a physique that more so mirrors someone who has had the competitive longevity in this weight class.

Conversely, Nyambayar has the advantage in stoppage power and has shown proven durability in never being finished as a pro.

This fight is scheduled for twelve rounds, and I see the outcome of this one being determined by the judges.

Ultimately, I think Nyambayar is a supremely talented fighter. But one who has shown certain holes in his last pair of fights that I foresee Colbert being able to exploit.

I also think the challenger will be operating at a bit of a deficit with this being a more short notice turnaround for him. Whereas Colbert had been diligently preparing for this specific date for far longer.

I think there’s value in pursuing prop bets on this prizefight going the distance and also on Colbert winning via points/ decision.

Pick: Chris Colbert (-600)
