Odds taken Oct. 30

Usyk looks to further carve a swath through the heavyweight division after a supremely dominant run at cruiserweight.

Oleksandr Usyk’s Biggest Heavyweight Test

He unified all of the major belts in the cruiserweight division and made his heavyweight debut in his last outing.

After stopping Chazz Witherspoon in the seventh round, Usyk now looks to take out a former heavyweight world title challenger in Chisora.

No fighter at 200 pounds, outside of Evander Holyfield, has accomplished what Usyk has in the last few decades.

This will be a great litmus test for him as a heavyweight and will provide a chance for him to show how he deals with a brick fisted, pressure centric heavyweight.

Dereck Chisora’s Last Chance at a Title Run

Chisora has been a stalwart of the heavyweight class fighting a who’s who of the division (Tyson Fury twice, Dillian Whyte, Kubrat Pulev, David Haye, and Vitali Klitschko).

He’s riding a three-fight win streak heading into this contest. Chisora has scored back to back finishes over Artur Szpilka and David Price.

An impressive win here could jettison him up the rankings in a meaningful way.

While Dereck Chisora does have a highlight reel of fearsome knockouts, I think Usyk will be able to use his high fight IQ to put it on Chisora.

Oleksandr Usyk vs Dereck Chisora Tale of the Tape

Odds for Usyk to win on points are situated at +130, and I see that as his likeliest method of victory.

I think Usyk weathers the early storm, starts to put on a sweet science clinic and wins via lopsided decision.

Pick: Oleksandr Usyk (-900)

Savannah Marshall vs Hannah Rankin Best Bet

The vacant WBO middleweight title is up for grabs between Savannah Marshall and Hannah Rankin. The two were set to compete on October 17th, but there was a positive COVID test from Marshall’s trainer that impeded things.

Claressa Shields is a looming figure in the picture here as she holds every significant middleweight belt outside of the WBO gold in this contest. The winner could position themselves opposite Shields in the future a rematch for Rankin, who lost to the GWOAT in November 2018.

Marshall has a 75 percent stoppage rate heading into this and, though Rankin has four defeats, she has shown durability through never having been finished. Rankin is definitely the biggest test in Marshall’s pro career so far.

Marshall has polished amateur skills with a wealth of experience on that circuit, but this is the biggest test of her professional career.

In the end, I think Rankin will have some moments, but I see Marshall winning this one via decision.

Pick: Savannah Marshall (-2500)

Main Card Picks for Usyk vs Chisora

  1. Amy Timlin vs Carly Skelly: This contest is for the commonwealth super bantamweight championship. Neither has a stoppage win and, both have faced a similar caliber of competition. I think there’s underdog value on Kelly via points. Pick: Carly Skelly (+350)
  2. George Kambosos Jr vs Lee Selby: The unbeaten Kambosos Jr takes on the former IBF featherweight world champion in Selby. I think Selby hands Kambosos Jr his first pro defeat and gives him a boxing master class en route to winning a wide decision. Pick: Lee Selby (+125)
  3. David Allen vs Christopher Lovejoy: Lovejoy is undefeated with 19 KOs across 19 pro wins. Allen marks a big jump up in competition for the man with the flawless knockout rate. I think Allen likely secures a stoppage victory between the fourth and sixth rounds. Pick: David Allen (-600)
