The start of college football season is a little less than two months away, and oddsmakers have posted win totals for every FBS team.

Four CFB teams have the highest total of 10.5 – Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and Ohio State, while Arizona, Kansas and Vanderbilt all have win totals of 2.5, the lowest on the board.

Alabama is atop the National Championship odds for 2022, while Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud is the favorite in the Heisman Trophy odds.

College football win totals don’t include conference championship games or the CFP. With that being said, let’s get into my three best win total bets for the regular season.

McKee Makes Stanford Better

David Shaw was once one of the hottest names on the coaching rumor mill, continually linked to NFL jobs. However, Shaw’s stock has fallen as Stanford is 11-19 combined last three seasons, including just 3-9 in 2021.

However, having a talented quarterback like sophomore Tanner McKee makes it likely Stanford can win at least five games this upcoming season.

Watching Tanner McKee versus Oregon from last year, this kid doesn’t bat an eye when facing any adversity.

McKee came off the bench in last season’s opener against Kansas State, quickly claimed the starting job and threw for 2,327 yards while tying the school freshman record for touchdown passes with 15. The mark was set by Steve Stenstrom in 1991.

McKee has a potential favorite target in sophomore tight end Benjamin Yurosek, who averaged 15.6 yards a reception last season. Stanford’s defense should also improve in part because of cornerback Kyu Blu Kelly, who had two interceptions and broke up nine passes in 2021.

Pump The Brakes on USC

Excitement is high at USC after Lincoln Riley was lured from Oklahoma to take over the program. That should be a major improvement over Clay Helton, who was fired two games into last season when the Trojans slid all the way to a 4-8 finish.

Riley has brought quarterback Caleb Williams with him from Norman and enticed All-America wide receiver Jordan Addison to transfer from Pittsburgh. As a true freshman last year, Williams unseated preseason Heisman Trophy favorite Spencer Rattler and passed for 1,912 yards and 21 touchdowns.

The infusion of talent should undoubtedly make USC better and it is the top choice in the Pac-12 in the college football conference title odds. However, Riley has more work to do before the Trojans can rejoin college football’s upper echelon and it likely won’t happen in one season.

Staff Changes Rejuvenate Iowa

Longtime coach Kirk Ferentz knew Iowa’s offense needed to be fixed after the Hawkeyes finished 99^th in the FBS in scoring (23.4) last season and 121^st in total offense (303.7). So, Ferentz made the difficult decision of demoting his son Brian Ferentz from offensive coordinator to quarterbacks coach.

Iowa has two intriguing QBs who will try to bring the Hawkeyes’ staid offense into the modern era. Spencer Petras has started 10 games in his career and Alex Padilla won all three of his starts last season.

Iowa has seven starters back on both sides of the ball from a team that went 10-4 in 2021. However, a different offensive look is what should really rejuvenate the Hawkeyes and make them a force in the Big Ten.
