  • The Texas State Bobcats are heavy 14.5-point favorites over the Colorado State Rams
  • Both teams are trying to move to .500 with a win

The Colorado State Rams and Texas State Bobcats enter this Thursday night matchup with identical 2-3 records. Kickoff is scheduled for 8pm ET UFCU Stadium, with coverage on CBS Sports Network.

Texas State is coming off a heartbreaking 31-29 road loss to San Diego State, a game in which they ran a ridiculous 102 offensive plays. Colorado State is trying to patch a leaky defense after a 56-26 drubbing at the hands of Oregon State.

Both secondaries have been giving up massive chunks of yardage, which shapes how I am approaching this one.

My Colorado State vs Texas State prediction backs the home side despite the steep price. The Bobcats average a massive 531.6 total yards per game, more than 80 yards clear of what Colorado State produces.

Brad Jackson was excellent in the San Diego State loss, completing 27 of 43 for 372 yards and three touchdowns while adding 80 rushing yards. He threw two interceptions in that game, so the dual-threat upside comes with some risk attached.

The matchup is what sells it. Colorado State is surrendering 493.2 yards and 38.6 points per game, which is the kind of defense that lets an offense like this operate without resistance.

At 84¢, a winning Texas State contract returns $1, for 16¢ profit before fees. I like the Bobcats because their rushing production attacks Colorado State’s weakest area, and an outright win is all this pick requires.

CSU Rams vs TXST Bobcats Best Bet for Thursday Night CFB

This is the Thursday night CFB best bet I like most on the board. Texas State games are averaging 68.0 combined points this season, while Colorado State games average a staggering 76.0.

The recent form is even louder. In Colorado State’s last two games, the matchups have produced combined totals of 104 and 82 points, meaning both would have cleared this number with room to spare.

The profiles back it up on both sides. Both offenses comfortably surpass 445 yards per game and both defenses are surrendering more than 33 points per contest, which is a combination that rarely produces a quiet night.

One caveat worth holding onto: both teams are coming off byes, so each had two weeks to work on the defensive problems that made those shootouts possible.

The Colorado State vs Texas State odds make the Bobcats a heavy favorite. Kalshi’s 84¢ Yes contract pays $1 if Texas State wins, a 16¢ profit before fees.

The sportsbook side tells a consistent story, with the Bobcats laying 14.5 points at -111 and the Rams priced at -120 to cover that spread. Anyone comparing the two formats should look at Texas prediction markets alongside traditional college football odds to see where the better number sits.

The Colorado State vs Texas State stats pair two productive offenses with vulnerable defenses. Colorado State actually scores more per game than Texas State, which is worth sitting with when you are laying 14.5 points, and the passing numbers are nearly identical.

The separation is on the ground. Texas State leans on Torrance Burgess Jr. and his 614 rushing yards, with Davian Jackson adding 315 and five scores, fueling a hefty 263.6 rushing yards per game against a Colorado State front that just gave up 56 points.

Colorado State will not go down quietly. K’saan Farrar has started the last two games and gave the offense a spark, throwing for 344 yards and two scores against UTSA.

Mel Brown is the bigger problem for Texas State. He is averaging a ridiculous 10.0 yards per carry on his way to 409 rushing yards, and that kind of explosiveness is how a double-digit underdog hangs around long enough to matter.
