  • Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine was released from jail on April 2 amid the coronavirus pandemic
  • 6ix9ine will now spend the remaining jail time from his sentence in a house arrest arrangement
  • Back on social media, 6ix9ine is expected to continue his Instagram Live appearances. Who will be his first guest?

He’s baaaaaack! After a briefly served stint in the slammer, hip hop star Tekashi 6ix9ine has been released and is now on house arrest for the remainder of his two-year term.

Despite a sentence that was supposed to carry through 2022, the artist born Daniel Hernandez is now out of jail. Given that Hernandez suffers from asthma, his request to be released from prison due to concerns of catching coronavirus was approved.

With Tekashi 6ix9ine back at home, the rapper has suddenly found himself with technology and social media at his disposal and the ability to continue his career that saw a pause during his jail time.

Considering his extensive network of fellow hip-hop stars and social media influencers, Tekashi has the opportunity to collaborate and ‘visit’ his fans via social live streams. Guessing who his first co-starring guest is the next guess.

Instant ‘Gram-ification

For those wondering if 6ix9ine would return to social media at all after his release, that reappearance took no time at all. Within minutes of being out of jail, he jumped on Instagram live while being driven home.

In terms of posted content, he hasn’t uploaded a new photo or video himself yet. But he wasted no time in terms of commenting on others’ material. Interestingly, the rapper used his first engagement opportunity to uncharacteristically poke fun at himself.

Upon his return from jail to his Los Angeles home, Tekashi jumped back on Instagram to comment on a thread. 6ix9ine commented on a headline screenshot of LA Mayor Eric Garcetti asking for citizens to ‘snitch’ on businesses not following closure and social distancing orders.

Tekashi commented “Coming to the rescue”. This was definitely a cheeky nod to his personal trajectory in which he cooperated with police in the past by naming names in a gang case.

Certainly, it seems Tekashi 6ix9ine is back on social media from home, ready to make waves and leave golden nuggets for his fans. But the odd comment here and there won’t be all. He’s expected to start appearing on his own feed sooner than later.

Let’s Get Live

With the world presently on lockdown, everyone and their dog is jumping on Instagram Live to create content and engage with their fans and community.

Considering 6ix9ine was already live on the ‘Gram while on the road from jail to home, it certainly won’t be his last appearance. After all, his pre-jail career featured plenty of Insta Live content.

YouTube video

In the past, 6ix9ine has feuded with Trippie Redd on the platform, gotten friendly with young rapper Lil Tay, and discussed career merits with Bhad Bhabie. He’s definitely a fan of the platform and after a few months in jail he’ll be itching to get back on live. Even if it’s just to remind his followers he’s around by notifying them he’s online, it’s an opportunity to regain relevance.

I Got Friends and Followers

Out of the suspected folks Tekashi is expected to go live with, Kooda B makes the most sense. The two are thick as thieves– Tekashi even named a past song after this guy.

Kooda is in a similar boat to Tekashi in that he was also released from prison, ending a sentence early due to his own asthma condition. Though Tekashi has kept a low profile, Kooda is in hot water for partying since his release and not respecting social distancing orders.

Podcaster Joe Budden is another consideration. Famously, Budden stuck up for 6ix9ine during his sentencing, placing the blame away from the rapper and onto the media. Now that Tekashi is out, the two may take this opportunity to connect and have a conversation about this scenario.

Fans are also predicting influencer Jake Paul may be the one to join Tekashi on Insta Live. The two have had a rocky feud in the past. At one point, Paul was trying to organize a fight between Tekashi and Trippie Redd. Tekashi has not been shy about his ill feelings for Paul, calling him out on social media in the past.

Ultimately, Tekashi will want to start this thing off in a celebratory manner, though. Jumping on Live with his fellow release buddy Kooda makes the most sense.

Pick: Kintea “Kooda B” McKenzie – (-120)
