  • Clutch Gaming’s stock is rising quickly
  • Will they be able to compete for an LCS title?
  • Is Liquid still rightfully the favorite to win?

With the first week of the LCS in the books, there have been some teams that have seen their stock rise, while others have seen their stock fall. Some unexpected results have caused some of the odds to shift for the LCS Spring Split, so let’s take a look at the new odds table.

2019 LCS Spring Split Odds

Teams Odds t
Liquid -225
Clutch Gaming +500
100 Thieves +600
Cloud9 +600
FlyQuest +750
TSM +2500
CLG +3300
OpTic +3300
Echo Fox +5000
Golden Guardians +15000

Clutch Gaming Moving on Up

I said it back in mid January, but it’s time to put some respect on Clutch Gaming’s name. My pick for the underdogs of the split are showing up and showing out so far, with wins over both Echo Fox and TSM in their first week of LCS play.

TSM historically has been the best team in the North American region. Despite coming into the split having made a few roster changes, they were still expected to be a top-4 team. Clutch Gaming were able to battle back against the NA powerhouse down early, and come out on top with the W.

Both Piglet and Damonte were able to flex their muscles a little bit in Week 1 and show that they can perform at a very high level in the LCS. Particularly in the TSM game where the two of them combined for 9 kills and 0 deaths. Damonte actually went through the weekend having not died on the rift, with a combined KDA of 11-0-8, which is nothing short of impressive.

Though they had a good first week I think it’s a little too early to hop on the Clutch to win “Spring Split” train.

Can Clutch Actually Win the LCS Spring Split?

Jumping from +2000 to +500 is quite impressive after having played just two games. Though I think they will for sure make the playoffs, I have my reservations that they will make it past the semifinals.

I see Clutch as a team that will be able to compete with some of the best teams in the LCS, but when it comes to playing Liquid or Cloud9, I’m still not sold. TSM is no slouch and Clutch were able to come out on top, but the talent of the other two rosters may prove to be too much.

Though they are capable of making a run to the finals, I don’t see Clutch winning this split outright. Maybe another split further down the road they could challenge for an LCS title, but I think it’s jumping the gun too early to say that they will be able to beat Liquid or C9 in a win or go home situation.

I would still take Liquid to outright win the LCS Spring Split, but Clutch should definitely be looked at to make playoffs if you haven’t already put some money on them.

Pick: Liquid (-225)
