  • There are 21 players within five shots of the lead in a jam packed leaderboard

After three rounds of the Sanderson Farms Championship, it is anybody’s ball game with a leaderboard featuring a mix of established veterans and young players attempting to win their first PGA Tour title. At the forefront is ten-time PGA Tour champ Sergio Garcia, who is tied with one-time winner J.T. Poston and Cameron Davis, who remains winless.

This tournament has been contested at this track for the last six years, and in each and every case, the champion made this their maiden triumph on the biggest stage.

While the co-leaders didn’t enter the week as top favorites to take home the trophy, they unsurprisingly are the top bets to take home the hardware come Sunday evening.

Sergio Garcia Searching For First Tour Win Since 2017 Masters

It’s hard to believe that Sergio Garcia hasn’t tasted success stateside since he slipped into a green jacket at the Masters in 2017, but that’s the case and he’ll have a golden opportunity to get the monkey off his back Sunday.

He’s been his usual stellar self off the tee this week, ranking first in strokes gained in that category, and is third in SG: approaching the green. The fiery Spaniard is first in greens in regulation, hitting all but eight of the 54 greens through three rounds.

I’m still skeptical that he can come up clutch when the pressure ratchets up on Sunday with him closing his eyes when he hits putts, despite him saying he’s been doing it for three years. There was little reason to suggest that he’d have a solid week in Mississippi, because Garcia has missed three of his last four cuts and hasn’t been been better than T-32nd in his last seven starts, so that causes me to temper my expectations heading into the final round.

Best Live Value Picks at Sanderson Farms Championship

  1. Cameron Davis (+430): He was one of our longshots to win at the start of the week at +4600 odds, so why deviate now that he’s tied for the lead? Shot the round of the day Saturday by three strokes with a sizzling 63. Third in putting this week, gaining over seven shots on the field. He’d continue the trend of first time winners at this tournament.
  2. Kristoffer Ventura (+800): Like Cameron Davis, we were high on him this week too at +8000 odds. Finds himself just a shot back after 54 holes for the second time in his last three tournaments. Second in strokes gained off the tee and fifth in SG: tee-to-green for the event. Would also continue the narrative of breakthrough victors at the Sanderson Farms.
  3. Tyler McCumber (+4100): Beginning the final round three strokes behind, McCumber has good vibes stemming from his play last week, where he was runner-up at the Corales Puntacana Championship. First in scrambling this week. Still in search of PGA Tour win number one, McCumber has winning pedigree, having hoisted three trophies in 2018, albeit on the Canadian Tour.
