San Francisco Giants (-171) at Texas Rangers (+161, 8.5 o/u)

With seven wins in their last eight games, the San Francisco Giants (56-45, 26-22 Away) have a great opportunity to stay on the winning path tonight when send their ace, Madison Bumgarner (11-5, 3.16 ERA) to face the Texas Rangers (49-52, 18-28 Home), in the first of a three-game series, at the Globe Life Park (8:08 PM Eastern).

The Giants won their sixth straight series last night, taking care of the Milwaukee Brewers with an easy 5-0 victory, after scoring all their runs in the seventh inning. Hunter Pence was the star on the field with a double to break the scoreless tie, and a great defensive performance as well.

“Hunter’s a shot in the arm any time he’s on the field, offensively and defensively,” Giants starter Jake Peavy told the Associated Press. “We owe a lot to Hunter Pence, that’s for sure.”

Bumgarner is second in wins in the American League, only behind Gerrit Cole from the Pittsburgh Pirates, who has a commanding 14. Bumgarner has won his last three starts, going for 7.0 innings in the 2-1 win over the Oakland A’s in his last outing, where he allowed five hits, and one run in the victory.

“He’s a threat up there,” Giants manager Bruce Bochy said of Madison. “What’s impressive is he’s made himself into a pretty good hitter, too. It’s not just the long ball. It just goes to show you how a pitcher can help themselves besides throwing the ball.”

The Rangers enter to this meeting with two wins in a row over the New York Yankees, splitting their four game series. Texas will send out right-hander Nick Martinez (5-6, 4.08) looking to keep their fading playoff hopes alive; but he’s 0-4 in his last six starts. Martinez went 5.0 innings, allowing six hits and four runs in the Rangers loss to the Los Angeles Angels on his last outing.

The pick here is simple.  You don’t bet against Madison Bumgarner. You just don’t.

Pick: Giants (-171).
