Astros vs Blue Jays Probable Pitchers

Brandon Bielak (2-2, 3.19) is expected to pitch for the Astros against Alek Manoah (1-6, 5.46). Bielak will be working on five days of rest and Manoah on four.

Bielak vs Manoah

Brandon Bielak
VS
Alek Manoah
2-2 Record 1-6
3.19 ERA 5.46
5.48 xERA 6.43
1.45 WHIP 1.77
2.33 SO/W 1.17

Bielak allowed one run and three hits over 5.2 innings to beat the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday in Houston. He matched a career-high with six strikeouts while walking three.

This will be Bielak’s first career start against the Blue Jays.

Bielak has started five times this season without notching a quality start and the Astros have a 2-3 record in those games. He is 0-2 with a 3.86 ERA in three starts on the road but has a 2-0 record and 2.49 ERA in four games (three starts) at night.

Manoah is coming off a rough May in which he was 0-5 with a 6.16 ERA in six starts. Manoah has lost his last six decisions since notching his lone win of the season on April 5 against the Royals at Kansas City.

In his most recent start Wednesday against the Milwaukee Brewers at Rogers Centre, Manoah took the loss as he allowed two runs and three hits in four innings. He had three walks and two strikeouts.

Manoah won his lone career start against the Astros, limiting them to two runs in six innings last season.

Manoah is winless in six starts at home this season, going 0-3 with a 6.83 ERA. He is 1-4 with a 4.50 ERA in seven starts in night games.

The Blue Jays are 4-8 when Manoah takes the mound and he has just two quality starts in 12 outings. Nevertheless, he is still listed in the American League Cy Young odds, albeit at +10000.

Astros vs Blue Jays Betting Trends

Brandon Belt hit a tie-breaking two-run home run in the seventh inning Sunday to lift the Blue Jays over the Mets. He is hitting .347 (25 of 72) in his last 25 games.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr, whose AL MVP odds are +3000, hit a solo home run and Whit Merrifield had a two-run double. Each finished with two hits.

Yanier Diaz accounted for the Astros’ lone run in Sunday’s loss to the Angels with a solo homer. Diaz had two hits as did Alex Bregman, who ran his hitting streak to 11 games.

Second baseman Jose Altuve missed his second straight game with an oblique issue and is questionable for Monday.
