  • There are 18 MLB teams in action on Thursday, April, 6th
  • The action starts at 1:10pm ET at Comerica Park and Citi Field
  • Read below for our best MLB parlay picks for Thursday, April, 6th

Thursday’s nine-game MLB slate gets underway at 1:10pm ET. The Detroit Tigers host the Boston Red Sox and the New York Mets welcome the Miami Marlins for the first two games of the night. They are followed at 2:10pm ET by the Giants against the White Sox and the Blue Jays taking on the Royals.

It’s still too early to be worrying too much about MLB win totals, but a few trends are beginning to come clear. The rule changes have meaningfully altered the pattern of games, with stolen bases massively up and pitchers still adapting to the constant time pressure.

Combining what we’ve seen in the first week of the campaign with preseason projections and past performance, here are our three parlay picks for Thursday night.

MLB Parlay Picks – April 6th

Pick Odds
Blue Jays @ Royals  — Blue Jays -1.5 -110
Padres @ Braves — Under 7.5 -115
Dodgers @ Diamondbacks — Dodgers Moneyline -148
MLB Parlay Odds +500

This three-legged parlay comes to +500 odds. The bet starts off at 2:10pm ET in Kansas City with the final game of a four-game set between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Kansas City Royals.

It’s then a bit of a wait with the Braves taking on the Padres at 7:20pm ET at Truist Park. The last game of the night provides us with our third pick. It’s a National League West matchup between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks — first pitch is scheduled for 10:10pm ET.

Pick #1: Blue Jays -1.5 vs Royals

The Toronto Blue Jays are rightly MLB odds favorites for the finale of their series at Kauffman Stadium. Kevin Gausman takes the hill for the Jays, matching up with Jordan Lyles. It hasn’t been a perfect start to the season for Toronto, with their starting pitching letting them down a couple of times, but the offense has generally been productive and should do some damage against Lyles.

Lyles gave up one earned run in 5.1 innings in his first start, but he walked two and posted an xERA above eight. He has the ability to eat innings, though has a poor record when it comes to run prevention with an ERA+ of 83 for his career.

Gausman, meanwhile, threw six shutout to start the season, and struck out seven. Kansas City has been below-average when it comes to striking out, which doesn’t bode well here.

Toronto should be able to take a lead early on considering the two starters. Don’t be surprised if this is a blowout.

Pick #2: Padres vs Braves Under 7.5 Runs

Blake Snell and Spencer Strider provide us with the strongest pitching matchup of Thursday’s games. Snell pitched to a 3.19 xERA last season, and had an xERA of 2.02 in his first start of 2023 despite giving up three earned runs in 4.1 frames.

Strider is among the favorites in Cy Young odds, and rightly so. Coming off a runner-up finish in National League Rookie of the Year, the former fourth-round pick pitched six shutout innings with nine strikeouts in his first 2023 start.

These are two deep line ups, but the Padres are only middle of the pack by wRC+ and the Braves could be kept quiet by Snell in the early innings. This has the makings of a tense pitcher’s duel between two of the National League’s strongest teams.

With the under landing in four of San Diego’s six games to date, we’re backing there to be seven or fewer scored in Georgia on Thursday.

Pick #3: Dodgers Moneyline vs Diamondbacks

Former elite prospect Dustin May has the ball for the Dodgers on Thursday night, facing veteran starter Merrill Kelly. May’s last two seasons were pretty much ruined by injury, but he gave up only six earned runs in 18.1 Spring Training innings, and tossed seven shutout frames in his first start of the regular season, which happened to be against these Diamondbacks.

Kelly also pitched in that game. He somehow didn’t allow a run in 3.2 innings. He did, however, walk four, allow three hits, and finish his truncated outing with an xERA over 11. The Dodgers ultimately lost the game thanks to Kyle Lewis’ two-run shot in the eighth inning, but the starting pitching matchup was very one-sided.

These offenses, too, have proven to be a mismatch. The Dodgers have a team 144 wRC+ so far. The Diamondbacks are 62 wRC+.

They might have split the first series of the season, but Los Angeles went 14-5 in this matchup in 2022. They are a good bet to claim a fifth victory of the season on Thursday night.
