  • The San Francisco Giants are -135 home favorites over the Atlanta Braves in a National League game slated for Saturday, September 18
  • Atlanta has won six of the last nine games from San Francisco
  • The Giants have won 10 of their past 12 games – read below for our betting prediction

It’s not a stretch to suggest that this weekend’s series between the Atlanta Braves (76-69, 39-33 away) and San Francisco Giants (96-53, 48-25 home) could be a preview of the National League Championship Series.

Both the Giants (NL West) and Braves (NL East) lead their respective divisions by two games. Then again, it’s also not a stretch to think that neither might not win their division.

San Francisco is being pursued by the reigning World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers. Atlanta sees the hard-charging Philadelphia Phillies in the rear-view mirror. The Phils have gained 2.5 games in the standings in the past five days.

All that’s combining to make this set vital for both teams. San Francisco drew first blood with a 6-5, 11-inning win on Friday. Oddsmakers are establishing the Giants as -135 favorites to win again on Saturday. San Francisco is 39-15 as a home favorite this season.

San Francsisco placed reliever Jake McGee (right oblique muscle) on the 10-day IL on Friday and that’s concerning. The Giants have really worn down their bullpen in the last couple of weeks with starters Wood and Johnny Cueto on IL.

How much will Wood have in the tank in his first start back from COVID?

Pick: Atlanta Braves (+115).
