Peralta is coming off a no-decision last Friday against the Phillies in Philadelphia. He allowed one run and three hits in five innings with six strikeouts and two walks.

Against the Pirates, Peralta is 2-1 lifetime with a 3.19 ERA in 14 games (five starts). He has 2-1 record at PNC Park and a 2.70 ERA in eight games (three starts).

Peralta will be making his third road start after having no decisions and a 4.00 ERA in his first two. He is 0-1 with a 3.86 ERA in two starts during on the road and the day.

Bryan Reynolds, who was activated from the COVID-19 IL on Wednesday, is 6 for 13 (.462) against Peralta with a double and triple. Ben Gamel is 3 for 6.

Quintana also had a no-decision last Friday when he gave up two runs on three hits in 4.2 innings to the Cubs in Chicago. He struck out three and walked.

Quintana has had success against the Brewers with a 9-4 record and 2.78 ERA in 18 games (17 starts). He is 0-1 with a 3.86 ERA in two starts both at home and in the daylight in 2022.

Hunter Renfroe has two home runs off Quintana while going 3 for 10 (.300) but Kolten Wong is 1 for 12 (.083).

Brewers vs Pirates Betting Outlook

Neither team had a hit until the sixth inning Wednesday night and finished with a total of five.

Tyrone Taylor hit a tiebreaking RBI single in the seventh inning as the Brewers overcame a 1-0 deficit. The Brewers managed just four hits on a 40-degree night with Wong getting the first with a one-out double in the sixth inning.

Reynolds had the Pirates’ lone hit, a sixth-inning infield single. It was a hard shot that deflected off the glove of diving third baseman Mike Brosseau.

Josh Hader notched his MLB-leading 10th save in as many opportunities.

The Brewers are 5-0 against the Pirates this season and hold a commanding 39-14 advantage in the series since the start of the 2019 season.

Brewers vs Pirates Prediction

The Brewers have certainly had the Pirates’ number in recent years.

However, Peralta is allowing opponent to hit .271 off him after holding them to a microscopic .165 batting average last season. Though most of it came before he began being beset by injuries, Quintana has a good track record against the Brewers and looks like a worthy underdog play here.
