The Los Angeles Dodgers will hand the ball to Dustin May in the hopes that he might put the San Diego Padres out of their October misery. San Diego is countering with Adrian Morejon and the belief that they still have more baseball left in their squad.
LA leads the best-of-five NLDS 2-0 and can close it out with a win Thursday in Game 3. First pitch is slated for 9:13 PM EST.
Dustin May (3-1, 2.57 ERA) gets the start for the Dodgers. Adrian Morejon (2-2, 4.66) will toe the rubber for the Padres.
Oddsmakers seem confident that Los Angeles will sweep San Diego aside. They’ve been established as the -180 favorites in the Dodgers vs Padres odds. LA is 4-0 in the postseason, while San Diego is 2-3.

Yo Adrian (Morejon)
With their season on the line, the Padres will turn to 21-year-old Morejon. Just four of his nine appearances this season and nine of his 14 career trips to the hill were for starting assignments.
This will be hist first career posteason start. Morejon has made two playoff appearances this fall.
His small sample size of postseason experience is offering promise. Morejon made two relief appearances in the Wild Card round against the St. Louis Cardinals covering three innings. He struck out two and allowed one hit, posting an .083 opposition batting average and an 0.33 WHIP.
Tingler said it will be Morejon tomorrow "and Paddack for Game Four." #Padres

Padres manager Jayce Tingler is hopeful that he’ll be able to squeeze five innings out of the left-hander but that seems optimistic. Morejon has never thrown more than 41 pitches in an appearance this season.
Morejon made one start against the Dodgers this season and it did not go well. He was tagged for the loss Sept. 16 in a 7-5 LA verdict. Morejon allowed two hits, one of them a homer, and two runs in two innings of work.
May Day
In terms of postseason experience, May is light years ahead of Morejon. He’ll be making his fourth playoff appearance. Like Morejon, though, it will be May’s first start.
He’s 1-0 in this year’s playoffs. May worked two scoreless, hitless innings in relief against San Diego in Game 1 to earn the decision. He struck out three.

Through his last seven appearances, May is 2-0 with a 2.57 ERA. The right-hander owns a 2.25 ERA and 0.97 WHIP over that span. Ten of his 12 trips to the mound this season were as a starting pitcher.
In three regular-season appearances against San Diego this season covering 17.1 innings, May is 1-1 with a 2.59 ERA.
Padres’ Last Hope
San Diego threw everything it had at the Dodgers in Game 2. The Padres got to Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw for three runs but still couldn’t complete the task and lost 6-5. They’ve dropped four straight and six of seven to the Dodgers.
It's time for #Dodgers MGR Dave Roberts to come out and definitively say that Kenley Jansen is no longer the closer, under any circumstances. There are simply too many other better options than to stick with Jansen. He's danced around this issue for too long.

Still, there was something symbolic about LA closer Kenley Jansen being unable to seal the deal. Joe Kelly was needed to come on to bail him out.
Since the 2013 playoffs, the Dodgers are just a middling 7-5 in games when they can close out a series.
Pick: San Diego Padres (+150)
