The Cincinnati Reds conclude their series against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field today. First pitch is scheduled for 4:15 PM ET on Peacock and NBCSN.

Entering this matchup, the Diamondbacks hold a 68-62 record, giving them a stronger standing than the 62-68 Reds. In their last game, the road underdog Reds secured an 11-5 victory over Arizona, racking up 16 hits and four home runs. The Diamondbacks managed 10 hits and two home runs from Nolan Arenado and Tim Tawa but could not overcome the pitching deficit.

With the series finale on deck, I’ll break down the expert picks and player props for the Reds vs D-Backs matchup, below.

Expert Picks and Player Props for Reds vs D-backs

Pick: Arizona Diamondbacks Moneyline (-125 at Caesars Sportsbook)
Pick: Over 8.5 Runs (-115 at Caesars Sportsbook)
Pick: Andrew Abbott Over 3.5 Strikeouts (+128 at Caesars Sportsbook)
Pick: Dane Myers Over 0.5 Hits (-190 at Caesars Sportsbook)

The Diamondbacks are poised to secure a victory at Chase Field, possessing superior home metrics and a stronger overall roster. When laying odds recently, the Reds have capitalized by winning 66.7% of their last 10 games as a favorite. However, as an underdog in the MLB odds, Cincinnati has struggled immensely, securing a victory in just 28.6% (2-5) of their last seven games in that role. I expect the hometown team to capitalize on this mismatch.

I am also backing the Over on 8.5 runs. High-scoring games have been the recent norm at Chase Field, with the Over cashing in 70% of Arizona’s last 10 contests.

In the MLB player props, my favorite target is Cincinnati’s starting pitcher. Andrew Abbott has exceeded 3.5 strikeouts in 11 of his last 15 games, good for a 73% success rate. He thrives in hostile environments, hitting the Over in 75% of his last eight road appearances. At plus money, this offers exceptional betting value.

If you prefer offensive consistency, Dane Myers is a reliable contact bat. He has exceeded 0.5 hits in six of his last seven games, boasting an 86% cover rate. Meanwhile, Elly De La Cruz has failed to record a base hit in 66.7% (six of nine) of his recent outings per the MLB batter vs pitcher stats, making his Under an intriguing fade.

While their surface-level ERAs are comparable, Abbott boasts a stronger 4.64 FIP and 1.40 WHIP over his 26 starts. Conversely, Mitch Bratt’s small current-team sample with Arizona reveals a concerning 5.38 FIP and an inflated 1.47 WHIP. Abbott is better equipped to generate swing-and-misses, recording 6.98 strikeouts per nine innings.

Over his previous 10 starts (54.2 innings), Abbott has pitched to a 4.45 ERA while averaging 5.47 innings per start. Bratt has struggled to consistently record outs in his eight starts for Arizona, averaging just 4.58 innings while walking 5.40 batters per nine.

Arizona has been highly effective at Chase Field, a very hitter friendly stadium per the MLB park factors, ranking 11th in runs per game (4.78), batting average (.254), and OPS (.749). The Reds have struggled to consistently generate offense on the road, sitting in the bottom third of the league across those categories.

Where Cincinnati holds an edge is on the basepaths. They average 0.77 stolen bases per road game, making them a top-10 threat to manufacture runs. However, De La Cruz’s recent slump neutralizes some of this advantage, putting pressure on contact hitters like Myers to keep the line moving.

Analyzing MLB public betting provides valuable insight into how the market views a matchup, but I never base my final picks solely on line movement or ticket counts.

The betting public is highly confident in the home team. Arizona is drawing a decisive 78.3% of the moneyline tickets and 74.8% of the overall money. Conversely, the underdog Reds are receiving just 21.7% of the tickets. This consensus aligns with my projection that Arizona’s home-field strength positions them well for a win.

Consistent with recent trends, bettors expect plenty of offense. The Over dominates the ticket count at 73.7%, while commanding a nearly identical 73.2% of the money. Support for a low-scoring affair is virtually non-existent in this matchup.
