DeSclafani vs Gray

11-6 Record 7-10
3.24 ERA 3.82

In his first season with the Giants, right-hander DeSclafani has won a career-high 11 games. Lately, wins have proven hard to come by, though. DeSclafani has won once since July 11. He’s 1-3 over his last eight starts.

Friday’s start against the Dodgers was DeSclafani’s best performance since he beat the Washington Nationals on July 10. The righty threw six scoreless innings and checked the reigning World Series champions on two hits.

DeSclafani’s last win was a 5-4 verdict over the Rockies on August 13. He worked five innings, allowing five hits and two earned runs.

He’s faced the Rockies three times this season and is 3-0 with a sparkling 0.90 ERA. That total includes a 12-0 complete-game three-hit shutout on April 26. DeSclafani struck out nine that day.

Rockies right-hander Gray endured a dreadful August. He was 0-4 in five starts with a 6.55 ERA. He posted a 1.77 WHIP and allowed opponents to bat .315 against him. He’ll be making his first start since enduring a 10-day stint on the IL with tightness in his right forearm.

Among the August setbacks was a 5-2 loss to the Giants on August 15. Gray worked 4.1 innings, allowed seven hits and three earned runs. On May 5, Gray got the win in a 6-5 decision over San Francisco. He pitched six innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs while striking out eight.

In 14 career starts against San Francisco, Gray is 2-7 with a 5.88 ERA. The Giants have hit him at a .308 clip.

Giants vs Rockies Pick

The Giants led the season series with the Rockies 10-4 entering Tuesday’s game. DeSclafani is 3-0 against Colorado this season. In six career appearances against the Rockies, he’s 4-1 with a 2.43 ERA. That sounds like a lethal combination.

Crawford has collected 10 RBI and posted a stellar 1.2 OPS against Colorado during the 2021 campaign.

The Rockies haven’t been swept in a series at home all season long. Colorado rightfielder Charlie Blackmon has clouted three homers and driven in 10 runs already in September.

San Francisco is 19-5 through its past 24 games against NL West clubs. The total has gone over in eight of the past 11 Giants-Rockies games.

Pick: San Francisco Giants (-135).
