Eovaldi had an outstanding strikeout/walk ratio during spring training as he fanned 16 without issuing a free pass in 12.2 innings. He did allow seven runs (five earned) and nine hits.

Eovaldi has given Joey Gallo trouble as the Yankees slugger is 1 for 9 with four strikeouts off the right-hander. However, Anthony Rizzo is 6 for 12 (.500) with three doubles and one home run and Aaron Judge is a .385 (10 for 26) hitter with two doubles and a homer.
Eovaldi becomes the third Red Sox’s pitcher to start three straight openers in this century, joining Hall of Famer Pedro Martinez and Jon Lester.
Yankees Betting Outlook
Cole worked just 5.1 innings in Grapefruit League games. He was charged with five runs (four earned) while striking out 10 and walking three.

Kike Hernandez is 6 for 13 (.462) off Cole with two doubles and a homer while Rafael Devers has taken the big right-hander deep three times in 21 at-bats. New Red Sox second baseman Trevor Story is just 2 for 12 (.167) against Cole, though one of the hits is a homer.
This will mark the Yankees’ debut for 2015 AL MVP Josh Donaldson, who will play third base and bat leadoff. He was acquired from the Minnesota Twins last month in a trade.
