It figures to be a hot night in Baltimore with the weather forecast calling a first pitch temperature of 90 degrees and a low of 76, mostly clear and southwest wind at 3-7 mph.

Taillon has a 4-1 record on the road this season and a 4.33 ERA in eight starts. He is 6-2 with a 4.26 ERA in 12 starts at night. The Yankees are 14-4 when Taillon pitches.

Wells had a six-game winning streak ended by the Tampa Bay Rays last Friday in St. Petersburg.

He pitched 5.2 innings and allowed three runs and six hits with six strikeouts and two walks. In his three starts in July, Wells has gone 1-1 with a 4.02 ERA.

Wells has pitched well in Baltimore this season with a 2-0 record and 2.76 ERA in seven starts. In 10 starts at night, he is 3-2 with a 2.74 ERA. The Orioles are 10-8 when Wells takes the mound.

The Yankees lost the opener 3-2. Astros rookie J.J. Matijevic walked it off in the ninth inning with a pinch-hit RBI single with two outs off Michael King.

Aaron Hicks had two of New York’s five hits.
