  • UFC 239 goes down on Saturday, July 6th in Las Vegas, Nevada
  • Jon Jones and Amanda Nunes will defend their titles
  • We’ve selected the best prop bets for the heavily stacked card

UFC 239 will likely be the biggest card the Las Vegas-based promotion puts on, and rightfully so. It is International Fight Week after all, and the UFC always tries to stack the card, which they did with two title fights, including Jon Jones and Amanda Nunes defending their titles. The card also features Ben Askren vs Jorge Masvidal and Luke Rockhold making his light heavyweight debut. Not only can you bet on who you think will win the fight, but you can also bet on a handful of props, like how the person will win and what round they’ll win.

We’ve already looked at the best underdog picks for UFC 239, so now it’s time to look at the three best prop bets.

Ben Askren vs Jorge Masvidal Method of Victory Odds

Method of Victory Odds
Askren by KO/TKO/Submission/DQ +300
Askren by Decision +100
Masvidal by KO/TKO/Submission/DQ +260
Masvidal by Decision +850
Draw +6600

*All odds taken 07/04/19

Ben Askren is a dynamic wrestler who is known to stop his opponents. He submitted Robbie Lawler in the first round in his UFC debut, where not many people are stopping the former welterweight champion. And, of his 19 professional wins, 12 has come by stoppage. But, Jorge Masvidal has only been stopped three times in his career, but two of them are by submission.

I think Askren will be able to use his wrestling and control Masvidal on the ground and continue to pressure him and hit him that he starts to gas and will get a submission or TKO win in the second or third round. And, at +300 odds there is a ton of value on it.

Pick: Askren by KO/TKO/Submission/DQ (+300)

Amanda Nunes vs Holly Holm Method of Victory Odds

Method of Victory Odds
Nunes by KO/TKO/Submission/DQ -105
Nunes by Decision +210
Holm by KO/TKO/Submission/DQ +550
Holm by Decision +550
Draw +6600

There is no question Amanda Nunes wins this fight, as many expect. But, I am not in the majority that believes she dominates Holm from the get-go and knocks her out. Many point to the Cris Cyborg fight as to how Nunes knocked her out in under a minute. However, there is a big difference as Holm will not brawl Nunes as she knows she loses that fight. Her coach, Mike Winkeljohn, even told me that himself. Holm is a world-class boxer who knows how to get in and out of shots and avoid the power punches.

Although Nunes will win the fight, she won’t be able to knock Holm out, who went the distance with Cris Cyborg and took those power shots. And at +210 there is a ton of value which is much better than picking Nunes straight up which is in the -300’s.

Pick: Nunes by Decision (+210)

Jon Jones vs Thiago Santos Round Betting Odds

Round Odds
Jones Round One +330
Jones Round Two +375
Jones Round Three +500
Jones Round Four +700
Jones Round Five +1200
Jones By Decision +375

There is no question Jon Jones wins this fight. Although many are saying Santos’ power will be a tough matchup for Jones, this is an easier fight than “Bones” has had in a while. Santos has a hard time stuffing takedowns, and if it goes the ground, he has been submitted before. That will be exploited by Jones who is one of the better wrestlers in MMA and has arguably the best ground and pound in the UFC.

I expect the first round the champion will be patient but will get Santos down then in the second, he explodes and gets him down and ground and pounds him until the ref steps in or Santos gives up his back and Jones submits him.

Pick: Jones Round Two (+375)

Longshot Bonus

If you are in the camp of Thiago Santos defeating Jon Jones, you might as well pick the prop of Santos to win in round one which is +1800. It seems the only way he will win is by knocking out Jones early in the fight. But, another one that has value is Arnold Allen stopping Gilbert Melendez, which is +240. The veteran has been stopped plenty before and hasn’t fought in years while Allen is a legitimate prospect at featherweight.
