The Octagon is back in Moscow, Russia for UFC Fight Night 163 on Saturday, November 9th. In the main event, Zabit Magomedhsharipov battles Calvin Kattar in a rare three-round main event, due to an injury to Junior dos Santos which pushed this fight to the headliner.

The co-main event now sees Alexander Volkov taking on former NFL player Greg Hardy who is stepping in on short notice.

Will Zabit Earn a Title Shot?

Zabit Magomedsharipov (17-1) is on a 13-fight winning streak including 5-0 in the UFC. The Russian has been hyped up as a future champion and title challenger since he joined the promotion.

He has won ‘Fight of the Night’ once and ‘Performance of the Night’ twice in his UFC tenure, notching notable wins over Jeremy Stephens, Brandon Davis, Kyle Bochniak, and Sheymon Moraes.

Calvin Kattar (20-3) is on a two-fight win streak including a very impressive TKO win over Ricardo Lamas at UFC 238. The Bostonian has also had five fights inside the Octagon and is 4-1 with his lone loss coming to Renato Moicano. The American also has a FOTN bonus and has notable wins over Shane Burgos, Andre Fili, and Chris Fishgold.

This is a fascinating fight between two of the top touted featherweight contenders in the UFC. Both Magomedsharipov and Kattar are on a roll and have a ton of hype behind them. What makes this fight even more interesting is they were supposed to fight weeks ago at UFC Boston, but Magomedsharipov needed the fight delayed a few weeks and now gets a hometown fight.

If this was a five-round fight, which main events are usually, I’d favor Kattar. But, in a three-round fight, it is hard to figure out the Russian and it normally takes two rounds to do so. So, I believe Magomedhsharipov will win the first two rounds with his flashy style and in the third, Kattar will have success going inside and using dirty boxing.

In the end, it will be Magomesharipov winning by decision.

Pick: Zabit Magomedsharipov (-250)

Alexander Volkov vs. Greg Hardy Odds

Can Hardy Get a Win Over Top 10 Opponent?

Alexander Volkov (30-7) has not fought since his last-second knockout loss to Derrick Lewis at UFC 229. It was also the first loss of his UFC career after starting out 4-0. The Russian is the former Bellator heavyweight champion and is a very good striker. He has notable wins over Fabricio Werdum, Roy Nelson, Blagoy Ivanov, and Stefan Struve.

Greg Hardy (5-1 and one no-contest) is making a quick turnaround after fighting on Oct. 18 at UFC Boston. There, he beat Ben Sosoli by decision but he used an inhaler in between rounds and it was overturned to a no-contest. The former NFL defensive lineman is 2-1 with one no-contest in his UFC career with wins over Dmitry Smoliakov and Juan Adams.

This is a huge step up in competition for Greg Hardy. Before this, he has been fighting UFC newcomers or opponents who have been cut or is fighting someone like Smoliakov who was cut by the UFC then brought back to fight Hardy. He has yet to be tested this is a very interesting bout and one that is closer than many think.

Volkov is no doubt the biggest fighter, but Hardy has the power to knock anyone out. However, I expect Volkov will use his jab to keep the distance and edge out a decision win.

Pick: Alexander Volkov (-250)
