The Philadelphia 76ers will be looking to close out the Toronto Raptors on Thursday night at Scotiabank Arena in Game 6 of their first-round matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for 7pm ET.

After being down 3-0, the Raptors stormed back with two straight wins and are on the brink of forcing a Game 7. They comfortably handled the Sixers on Monday, beating them 103-88 in Philly. Fred VanVleet is doubtful for this contest though, having also missed Game 5 due to a hip strain.

76ers Betting Outlook

After starting off the series on fire, Philadelphia has slowed down in the last two games, with some thinking Doc Rivers might blow another 3-1 lead.

In all fairness, though, Joel Embiid is clearly not at 100% as he battles a thumb injury that will need surgery in the offseason. With the 2022 NBA MVP finalist in pain, others need to step up, especially James Harden. However, he is struggling.

In Game 5, The Beard had just 15 points and seven assists and he’s now averaging just 18.4 points in the first round. Embiid wasn’t his same dominant self either, putting up only 20 points and 11 rebounds.

It’s no secret the ultimate success of the Sixers comes down to his health and that’s exactly why they’re in a tough position right now. The Raptors have been hounding him defensively and knowing he’s injured, Toronto is making Embiid’s life even more difficult.

Shooting threes was a huge part of their game during the regular season and after putting together a few efficient performances, Monday was brick after brick. Philadelphia shot just 27% from deep (10-for-37) and a mere 38% from the field.

The Sixers need to dig deep and work together as a collective unit on Thursday, but it won’t be easy up North. Embiid needs to find a way to take over, despite his thumb ailment.

Raptors Betting Outlook

Down 3-0, no one believed the Raptors could claw their way back into this first-round series. But once Embiid’s injury happened, Toronto knew they had a fighting chance.

Even without VanVleet in Game 5, Nick Nurse’s squad rose to the occasion and grabbed a massive road victory. This was a fantastic team performance, with four of their five starters finishing in double-figures.

Pascal Siakam stepped up in a big way, collecting 23 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists to lead the charge, while Scottie Barnes, Gary Trent Jr, and OG Anunoby, among others, clutched up and helped keep the Raps’ season alive.

Toronto just looked like they wanted it more, outscoring Philly 56-36 in the paint and absolutely cooking them in transition, 24-16.

The Raptors fully benefited from some sloppy play as well, translating 15 Sixers turnovers into 20 points. Bringing the intensity is, of course, a no-doubter for Thursday, but keeping Embiid at bay and defending him as tight as possible is going to be crucial. He isn’t his usual self at the moment and Toronto needs to capitalize on that. They shut the big man down and this series could very well be tied at three.

76ers vs Raptors Prediction

I’m riding with the Raptors all the way.

They’re heading back home with all the momentum and Philadelphia looks extremely flat. Plus, we just don’t know what to expect from Embiid when he’s hurt. Take Toronto on the moneyline and get ready for a Game 7.

Pick: Raptors moneyline (+104)
