My top NBA props selection for Game 2 is Cunningham over 28.5 points. Detroit revolves entirely around their franchise cornerstone. Cunningham logged a ridiculous 38.8% usage rate in Game 1, taking 27 shots and getting to the charity stripe 11 times. Given Detroit’s necessity to protect home court, his volume is incredibly safe.

That point is further extenuated by the lack of production the Pistons received from Jalen Duren in Game 1. Duren produced just 8 points on eight field goal attempts over 33 minutes, and played so poorly that Detroit couldn’t even put him on the floor in crunch time.

Duren’s emergence, especially during Cunningham’s injury last month, was a big reason why the Pistons were gaining traction in the NBA Championship odds. I don’t expect him to no show again tonight, but Orlando’s physicality in the paint clearly threw him off, and without his usual 20+ points Cade has no choice but to put on his cape and try to play hero ball.

My second best bet is Paolo Banchero over 20.5 points. The Magic filter their halfcourt offense directly through him. He dropped 23 points in Game 1 while capitalizing on his physical advantages. The Pistons offer very little interior resistance against a player with his skill set, and they yield a generous 54.4% effective field goal percentage to opponents.

Detroit’s paint defense excels against big, non versatile bodies, but Banchero is the exact opposite of that. He can spot up, drag defenders out beyond the arc, and aggressively drive when they try to cheat. He’s easily cleared this prop line in back-to-back games, and has upped his shot volume to an average of 18.5 field goal attempts per night over his last four outings.
