- Raptors Global Ambassador Drake fought against his own curse in Game 7 against the 76ers
- The Raptors are making their second Eastern Conference Finals appearance in franchise history
- Will Drake be spotted in Milwaukee Bucks gear at any point in this series?
It’s highly unusual that someone billed as a team’s global ambassador would be wearing an opponent’s colors in the biggest game of the season.
But the “Drake Curse” has taken down its fair share of dominant teams and individuals over the years, so Drake was not about to let it doom his beloved Toronto Raptors and cost them a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Now, with the 76ers in the rear-view mirror and the Bucks up next, will Drake try to pull another reverse jinx?

The Outfit Seen Round the World
There are nearly 20,000 basketball fans who can say with pride that they were in the building when Kawhi Leonard’s jumper touched every bit of the rim before sending Toronto into a state of euphoria.

Drake was not one of them, and proudly, it was by design.

Video surfaced of Drake watching the game remotely, and wearing 76ers shorts while doing it.
Is the Drake Curse a Real Thing?
There were several key moments to the Leafs first-round loss to the Bruins (again). It didn’t help that Drake showed up to Game 3 in a Leafs jersey and the team coincidentally gave up six goals in a loss.

At the collegiate level, he’s known as a Kentucky Wildcat basketball superfan, even joining the team in the layup line in 2012. The team has not won a national title since.

In football, he posted a picture of himself in Alabama gear prior to the Crimson Tide’s game with Clemson. They were blown out in spectacular fashion, 44-16 in the worst loss in Nick Saban’s illustrious Alabama career.
And before Conor McGregor’s UFC fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov, Drake posted a picture with UFC’s most marketable and known star. McGregor was stunned via submission.
What’s the Best Bet to Make Here?
It’s fair to say that Drake believes in his curse. Raptors fans acknowledge and appreciate his Game 7 gesture.

Furthermore, if it means being far away from the building and wearing a Giannis jersey for the Raptors to make their first ever appearance in the NBA Finals (this is going to be an ultra-entertaining and super tight series, as the two teams split their four regular season games), I’d take the longer odds that Toronto’s finest will be wearing Milwaukee’s best at some point in the series.
Pick: Yes (+175)
Let's have fun and keep it civil.
