If Game 1 was any indication, the Hawks vs Celtics opening round series is going to be a short one. Boston built a 30 point halftime lead before cruising to a 112-99 win in Game 1, and online sportsbooks expect another double-digit victory in Game 2.

The Celtics are the heavy chalk in Tuesday’s NBA odds, looking to hold serve at home once again and take a 2-0 series lead back to Atlanta.

Hawks vs Celtics Betting Splits

As of Monday night, the Celtics are garnering slightly more action than the Hawks in the spread market. 57% of the ATS tickets and 56% of the spread handle is on Boston, as the Celtics aim to beat the number for the sixth consecutive game.

Boston boasts a top-five cover rate this season, and is 9-2 ATS in its last 11 games. Two of those covers were against Atlanta, and the Celtics are a perfect 4-0 ATS versus the Hawks this season.

Atlanta on the other hand, struggled all season against the spread, and is in the midst of a 3-7 ATS run. On the bright side, they do own a 54% cover rate as road underdogs this season, and are 22-18-1 ATS following a loss.

Total wise, over money is coming in fast and furious. 72% of all money that’s been wagered on the total so far is on over 229.5, prompting some sportsbooks to increase the number to as high as 230.5. As always, make sure you price shop to get the most favorable line.

On the injury front, neither team is dealing with anything new. Danilo Gallinari (knee) is the lone player out for either side, but he hasn’t played all season.

Hawks vs Celtics Betting Stats

Boston came out with its hair on fire in Game 1 at both ends of the court. They put up 74 first half points, while holding the Hawks to just 44. Atlanta shot a dismal 33% from the field in the opening 24 minutes, missing all but one of its 3-point attempts.

The Hawks numbers improved in the second half as the Celtics took their foot off the gas, but Boston’s first half performance gave the NBA a glimpse of how dominant they can be. The Celtics are currently the favorites in the NBA Championship odds, and are -2500 favorites to advance to the next round of the NBA playoff bracket.

Hawks vs Celtics Series Odds

Team Odds to Win Series
Atlanta Hawks +1200
Boston Celtics -2500

Jaylen Brown led the Boston attack with 29 points, including 25 in the opening half. Jayson Tatum added 25 points and 11 boards of his own, knocking down three triples. That gives him at least three triples in nine of his last 17 outings, while the Celtics made 13 threes compared to only five by Atlanta.

The Hawks were just 5-of-27 from three, as Trae Young continued his struggles from beyond the arc. Young has made one or fewer triples in five straight outings, and is just 3-of-25 from long range during that stretch.

Hawks vs Celtics Same-Game Parlay

That lack of efficiency is going to hinder Young’s ability to get over on his points prop, and fading him in that market is the first leg of our Hawks vs Celtics Same-Game Parlay.

Hawks vs Celtics Game 2 Same-Game Parlay

Pick Odds
Trae Young Under 25.5 Points -150
Marcus Smart 1+ Steals -475
Jayson Tatum to Record Double-Double -140
Same-Game Parlay Odds +220

Our SGP features just three legs, but pays out +220 if it hits. Boston is likely to continue with the same small ball approach they deployed in Game 1, substituting Derrick White into the starting lineup in place of Robert Williams III.

An extra versatile defender gave Young fits, and there’s probably not a more challenging back court to attack than the Celts’ consisting of White and Marcus Smart.

Sticking with Smart, he helped force five turnovers from Young in Game 1, and is an excellent bet for at least one steal in Game 2. That will likely come at the expense of Young, who’s averaged five turnovers in his last five contests. Smart, the reigning DPOY, grabbed three steals in Game 1, and has at least one swipe in 19 of his last 21 games.

Finally, let’s round out our SGP with a double-double effort from Tatum. Boston’s leading scorer has reached double-figure in every game this season, and assumes a heavier rebounding role with Williams III not starting. He averaged 11 boards in his two regular season meetings with the Hawks, and has pulled down at least 10 boards in 11 of his past 20 contests.

Pick: Same Game Parlay (+220)
