Kawhi Leonard is one of the most talked-about names on the 2026 NBA trade market, and sportsbooks have a market for it. DraftKings posted odds on which team will get Kawhi’s first regular-season minute in 2026-27, and there’s a clear front-runner.

There’s a lot to unpack here, from contract questions to a handful of teams circling. So let’s lay out the Kawhi Leonard next team odds and dig into where the value sits.

The Clippers sit at -150 in the Kawhi Leonard next team odds, which works out to a 60% implied probability he opens the season in LA. The Raptors are the second choice at +300, with the Pistons, Heat and Spurs rounding out the top five.

Clippers the Clear Favorite

This price tracks with everything we know. Leonard’s preference is to stay in LA, where he’s a Southern California native, and governor Steve Ballmer has held a firm stance against trading him.

There is a complication, though. Kawhi is entering the final year of his deal, and any extension would require real negotiations and a pay cut. If that framework doesn’t come together, the Clippers could feel pressure to move him rather than watch him walk for nothing.

Raptors and Spurs the Extension Teams

Now we get to the part that really matters. Per insider Jake Fischer, the only two teams Leonard would sign a long-term extension with, outside of the Clippers, are the Raptors and Spurs.

Toronto is the sentimental fit. Kawhi won a title there in 2019 and is reportedly open to a reunion, though it would likely take a sign-and-trade to pull off. San Antonio drafted him and remains a dark horse, though the Spurs’ young, extension-eligible core may not make him a priority.

Pistons and Heat Look Like Long Shots

The short prices here are deceiving. Both Detroit (+700) and Miami (+900) have real problems as landing spots.

Fischer reported Kawhi would not be amenable to extending with Detroit, which has essentially quashed that pursuit. Miami, meanwhile, already used its big swing this summer to land Giannis Antetokounmpo, so the Heat’s interest in Kawhi has likely cooled.

Kawhi Leonard Next Team Prediction

For my Kawhi Leonard next team prediction, I’m sticking with the chalk. Ballmer doesn’t want to trade him, Kawhi wants to stay, and there’s no deal close enough right now to bet against that.

The Clippers at -150 is the best bet on the board. It’s not a flashy price, but it’s the most likely outcome by a wide margin, and the alternatives all come with extension roadblocks. This is a futures market that can swing fast on a single report. Shop the number at DraftKings and on prediction markets like Kalshi to grab the best price before it moves.
