Butler Betting Outlook

Butler’s 19-point loss to UConn is a little deceptive. The Bulldogs led 28-24 at halftime and were down just 57-52 with 4:18 left before the Huskies finished the game on an 18-4 run.

Sophomore guard Chuck Harris led Butler with 16 points off the bench. Despite being a reserve, Harris is the only Bulldogs player with a double-figure scoring average at 10.2.

Freshman guard Jayden Taylor is averaging 9.7 and senior forward Bryce Golden has a 9.2 average.

Senior guard Aaron Thompson added 10 points and five assists on Thursday.

Butler shot 38.0% (19 of 50) from the field and made just 4 of 19 (21.1%) shots from three-point range. The Bulldogs also were outrebounded 39-25.

Butler held UConn to 29% shooting in building the four-point halftime lead. However, the Huskies shot 67% in the second half to rally for the win.

Against the spread, Butler is a miserable 5-13. It is 2-2 in road games.

Providence Betting Outlook

Balance has been the key to Providence’s offense this season and that was the case again Thursday when four Friars scored in double figures in the win over Georgetown.

Senior guard Al Durham and senior forward Ed Croswell each had 15 points. Durham was a perfect 8 for 8 from the free throw line and Croswell was 7 of 7 from the field on his way to season high in scoring.

Durham, a transfer from Indiana, notched his fifth consecutive double-digit scoring game while raising his season average to 13.4. He is also dishing 3.1 assists a game.

Senior forward Noah Horchler finished with 14 points and seven rebounds. He made 4 of 7 shots from long distance.

Horchler is having a fine all-round season with averages of 10.1 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists.

Senior center Nate Watson is Providence’s leading scorer at 13.8 points a game and had 10 points a game. Watson is also pulling down 6.1 boards on average.

Senior guard A.J. Reeves missed his third straight game with a finger injury and is questionable for Sunday.

Providence shot 52.9% (27 of 51), including 47.4% (9 of 19) on threes.

The Friars took a 13-0 lead and never trailed as Georgetown missed its first 11 shots. The Hoyas closed the gap to 37-34 at halftime before Providence started the second half on an 11-2 run to make it 48-36.

The one negative for Providence was Georgetown shooting 56.5% (13 of 23) on three-pointers.

Providence is 11-6 ATS, including 7-4 at home.
