The performance was impressive, decisive and cemented LSU as legitimate title contenders. Their odds took a jump but still sit tied for second with Clemson and behind the Ohio State Buckeyes. That goes to show there is still value in betting on the Bayou Bengals, for two reasons that were on clear display in LSU’s win over Georgia.
Heisman Trophy QB Makes all the Difference
Joe Burrow will be this year’s Heisman Trophy winner, having thrown for 4,715 yards and 48 touchdowns this year. He was a dominant force against Georgia and this performance in particular deserves to be recognized. Burrow was 28-for-38 for 349 yards and four touchdowns against the Bulldogs. The result was a 27-point victory over a team ranked inside the top-4.

With Jalen Hurts, Justin Fields and Trevor Lawrence also in the playoff, Burrow isn’t the only elite quarterback but he definitely gives LSU someone capable of matching those other teams at the most important position.
Chase & Jefferson are Stars at WR
It’s not the first time the Tigers have had a pair of superstar wide receivers lining up together – remember Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry? Ja’Marr Chase has 73 receptions for 1,498 yards and 18 touchdowns and teammate Justin Jefferson has 88 catches for 1,207 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Against Georgia, Jefferson was the lead receiver with seven receptions, 115 yards and a touchdown. Terrace Marshall Jr. was actually second on the team with 89 yards and two touchdowns in the game proving LSU has three big threats on the outside. This is a team that has always been known for their defense but with Burrow and this trio of wide outs, it’s time to start respect LSU for their ability to throw the ball all over the lot.
LSU Earned #1 Seed in the College Football Playoff
Burrow has given LSU a dimension they lacked for years, an elite quarterback capable of putting up points at the same rate as other top offenses from around the country. Ohio State had a better margin of victory and more wins against ranked opponents but ultimately the eye test gave way late in the process.

The voters, some of the most respected football minds in the country, saw an LSU team dismantling opponents and hitting their stride at the perfect time, and that’s something you should consider as well.
With LSU facing Oklahoma in the opening round of the college football playoff it’s easy to see their path to the final. Consider betting LSU now before the odds move if you’re as confident as I am that they run by Oklahoma in similar fashion to what they did to Georgia.
Let's have fun and keep it civil.
