I’m backing the Philadelphia Eagles to cover the small +1.5 spread against the favored Kansas City Chiefs. Philadelphia boasts the superior defense and run game, which are two major factors that tend to loom large on the Super Bowl stage.
The Eagles ranked first in defensive efficiency this season and were the NFL’s top team defending the pass. Their fierce pass rush, led by standout DT Jalen Carter, matches up very well against a vulnerable Kansas City offensive line that allowed the third-most pressures.
On the other side of the ball, Philly’s dominant run game (led by star RB Saquon Barkley) should find plenty of room to operate against a KC defense that’s struggled to stop the run lately, allowing 147+ rushing yards in two of their last three games. The Eagles’ ability to control the clock on the ground could be key to keeping Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offense on the sidelines.
Total Bet: Under 48.5 Total Points
The Super Bowl total is sitting at 48.5 points, but I like the Under in a matchup featuring the Eagles’ elite defense. Philadelphia allowed the fewest points per game (17.8) in the entire NFL this season.
While both of these teams have high-powered offenses, the Eagles’ ability to get after the QB and blanket receivers downfield could make moving the ball and finishing drives much tougher for Mahomes and Co. On the flip side, if Philly is able to establish the run game as expected, that will chew clock and shorten the game, leading to fewer overall possessions and scoring chances.
It’s also worth noting that the Under has cashed in four of the last five Super Bowls. With the Eagles’ defensive strength and ball-control potential on offense, the Under offers strong value at 48.5 points.

Eagles star DT Jalen Carter has been a one-man wrecking crew in the playoffs, racking up 2 sacks, 5 QB hits and 12 pressures across three games while playing over 90% of the defensive snaps. His explosive first step and power make him a nightmare matchup for opposing guards.

Carter’s odds to record a sack are sitting at a juicy +115, indicating a 46.5% implied probability. But considering he’s generated pressure on a whopping 22% of pass rushes in the playoffs while consistently playing a high volume of snaps, I like his chances of getting to Mahomes for at least one sack. Sprinkle a little on his +6600 Super Bowl MVP odds as a fun long-shot bet too.
Anytime TD Bet: Jalen Hurts to Score
Eagles QB Jalen Hurts is one of the NFL’s most dangerous red-zone weapons due to his dual-threat ability. The athletic signal-caller has rushed for 15 touchdowns in 18 games this season, including a 71-yard, three-TD performance in the NFC title game.
Kansas City has been vulnerable to mobile QBs in the red zone this year, allowing the seventh-most rushing TDs to the position. Hurts already burned the Chiefs for 70 rushing yards and 3 scores on the ground in their previous Super Bowl matchup, so KC knows the threat he poses near the goal-line.
With Hurts’ anytime TD odds at a reasonable -110, I’ll gladly back the Eagles’ primary red-zone weapon to find paydirt once again on the Super stage. No QB in the league has more rushing TDs over the last two years.
