The NFL did football fans everywhere a solid by flexing out of the Chiefs-Broncos Week 14 Sunday Night Football game. They replaced it with a much more compelling tilt between the Dolphins (8-4, 3-3 away) and Chargers (6-6, 2-3 home), because quite frankly no one wants to watch Russell Wilson anymore.

The Miami vs LAC matchup projects to a high scoring affair, with money continuing to pile in on the over in the Dolphins vs Chargers public betting splits. Miami’s offense in particular is in a home run spot and is the focal point of our SNF same-game parlay.

Tua Tagovailoa Over 249.5 Passing Yards

Tagovailoa enters the week as a top-four MVP candidate. He ranks second in the NFL in QBR and sixth in TD passes. He’s thrown for at least 261 yards in six straight starts, and should be able to feast on the LAC defense.

The key to stopping Tagovailoa is by getting in his face. Considering the Chargers ranks 27th in pass rush productivity, that isn’t likely to happen. LA’s top pass rusher Joey Bosa is on IR, while arguably their best defensive player, safety Derwin James, is out per the Dolphins vs Chargers injury report.

James’ absence is a devastating one. This is an LAC defense that already allows a league worst 6.7 yards per play on first down, and simply isn’t equipped to deal with Miami’s one-two punch of Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill, who rank fifth and first respectively in receiving yards.

Tyreek Hill Over 104.5 Receiving Yards

Speaking of Hill, he’s produced three games of at least 143 receiving yards in his last five starts. He also has an 85 yard game during that stretch in which he didn’t play in the second half.

No player is more capable of producing explosive plays than Hill, as evident by the fact that he has at least one 20+ yard catch in all but one game this season. That’s a nightmare for LAC, as they’ve allowed 26 plays of 30 or more yards so far.

Tyreek Hill Stats – Last 5 Games

REC TGT YDS TD
9 14 146 1
6 9 85 0
5 6 44 1
7 8 143 1
12 14 188 0

Hill is also being peppered with volume and that isn’t likely to change. Miami does an excellent job creating mis-matches for him, which he routinely takes advantage of.

Hill has at least seven catches in nine of 12 games this season, making the over on his reception prop also look appealing in the Dolphins vs Chargers player props.

Dolphins Over 24.5 Points

Miami is averaging 25 points per game, and ranks fourth in total offense. Only two teams have surrendered more points than LAC, while the Chargers rank 27th in yards allowed.

LAC’s defense has coughed up 13 touchdowns of 21+ yards this season, and is allowing points 42.9% of their opponent’s drives. One of our experts is backing the over in the Dolphins vs Chargers picks and it appears Miami’s offense shouldn’t have any issue doing their part.
