The NFL betting trends are interesting. 88% of the moneyline bets are placed for the Panthers and overall, 77% of the bets are on the Bengals covering the spread and 54% on the over for Sunday.
Panthers Betting Outlook
This game becomes the tipping point for the Carolina Panthers. Carolina and Head Coach Steve Wilks have gotten to this point by being more physical on both sides of the line of scrimmage. The Panthers’ running game soared to new heights last week against Detroit racking up 320 yards. Carolina has now won four of their last six games. In all four wins, the Panthers rushed for 185 yards or more.
Carolina knows what it needs to do on Sunday.

Last week, the Panthers’ offense continued to attack in a  37-23 win over the Detroit Lions. Carolina piled up a season-high 570 yards of offense while holding the Lions’ run game to just 45 yards.
The Carolina Panthers remain weak against the pass. It does not help that the Panthers will be missing two of their cornerbacks for this division tilt. However, the longer they can keep the ball away from Tom Brady, the better their chances of winning.
Sam Darnold and the Panthers’ offensive strategy might allow them to take a few shots down the field if Tampa Bay crowds the box. Also, Chuba Hubbard could be used out of the backfield along with some deeper passes to D.J. Moore and company.
Buccaneers Betting Outlook
At home, the Buccaneers are a mere 4-4. That seems crazy for a Tom Brady-led team. Tampa Bay passes the ball a ton and leads the NFL in passing attempts. Despite that, they have the league’s worst rushing offense and average a mere 17.7 points per game (27th in the league).
With Tampa Bay having some injuries on the defensive side of the ball themselves, that could leave them vulnerable to Carolina’s run first then pass attack on Sunday.
The Buccaneers’ offense just has not performed up to expectations. Four of the previous five weeks, Tampa Bay has negative expected points.

Again, this week is problematic as Tampa Bay’s problem comes down more to scheming than anything else. Can Offensive Coordinator Byron Leftwich figure out the way to attack Carolina? Or will this game turn out like so many others lately for Tampa Bay?
Tampa Bay ranks 21st in Red Zone Touchdown Percentage and also in converting on third down. That is something never seen before on any Tom Brady team. For a team that passes so much, could running the ball a little more hurt? Probably not.
Finally, the Buccaneers turned the ball over 11 times in the previous four games. If they make two or three miscues again on Sunday, Tampa is in serious trouble.
Panthers vs Buccaneers Prediction
This game expects to key in on the turnover battle.
Now, can Tampa Bay give Carolina a taste of its own medicine? Even a little running would help the Buccaneers on Sunday. Carolina ranks in the bottom third against the run. Though they have looked better the past few weeks, teams can still get it done on the ground. That being said, Brady and Leftwich may be too stubborn.
The Pick: Carolina +3.5Â (-108) 1 unit
2022 Record: 11-4; Overall: 11-4, +6.5 units
