Chargers vs Jets SGP Picks: Both Teams 1+ TD and 1+ FG

The Chargers have the league’s ninth-ranked offense averaging 24.9 PPG. So despite the Jets boasting a top-six defense giving up only 18.4 PPG, the Chargers should still easily score at least one touchdwon. Justin Herbert himself has thrown for at least one passing touchdown each game this season.

So if there’s a question as to if one of these teams will find the endzone, it’s of the Jets who score just 18.0 (26th) PPG. They struggled to score versus a porous Giants defense last week, with just ten points in regulation and winning 13-10 in overtime. They play an equally poor defense this week in the Chargers, giving up 24 PPG to the Giants 24.1.

At home, in primetime, we’ll still back the Jets to get at least ten points (TD + FG). The Chargers haven’t held anyone to fewer than 13 points this season.

I also look at it this way. Even if the Jets stall the Chargers offense, Herbert is good enough to move them down the field and get them into field goal range. The Chargers defense is bad enough that even Zach Wilson and the Jets should also be able to get into Chargers territory.

And when it comes to the kicking game, both teams are in good shape.

Cameron Dicker is 11/12 kicking field goals for the Chargers and 19/19 in XPs. He’s kicked three field goals of 50 yards or more this season and has kicked at least one FG in 6/7 games. Last week he was a perfect 3/3.

For New York, Greg Zuerlein is 16/17 kicking FGs and 6/6 for XPs. He’s 1/2 kicking over 50 yards, has kicked at least one FG every game this season and multiple FGs in 5/7 games.

Chargers vs Jets SGP Picks: Garrett Wilson Receiving Yards

We’ve touched on the Chargers defense being bad, and they are especially bad against the pass where they are 32nd in passing yards allowed per game.

Even though the Bears finished with only 13 points against them last week, Tyson Bagent still managed to throw to three receivers who each eclipsed the 40-yard mark in receiving yards (41, 55, 79).

Garrett Wilson is the Jets top receiver and this week they’re likely missing fellow WR Allen Lazard who is questionable on the Chargers vs Jets injury report with a knee injury.

Wilson had 100 yards receiving for the Jets last week and hasn’t failed to reach at least 40 yards since Week 1. His totals since that game have been 83, 48, 60, 54, 90 and 100.

Chargers vs Jets SGP Picks: Breece Hall Receptions

The Chargers are also among the worst in defending running back passes. They’ve allowed 46 receptions and 384 receiving yards to opposing RBs out of the backfield. That’s the fourth-most receptions and fifth-most yards. In seven games that averages out to 6.57 catches and 54.86 yards per game.

Even as a running back, Breece Hall is third on the Jets in receptions with 19. That’s far behind Wilson’s 39, but right there with Tyler Conklin (20) and Lazard (17) as seconday receivers.

In the last four games Hall has caught 6/9 passes for 76 yards, 5/5 for 54, 3/3 for 17 and 3/4 for 13. Hall to go over 2.5 catches looks like a good bet to round out our MNF SGP picks.
