The Philadelphia Eagles will host the Dallas Cowboys for Sunday Night Football in Week 8. Both teams have been horrible this season and enter this game below .500, but this suddenly becomes a matchup for first place in the NFC East. The Eagles opened as a three-point favorite but shot up following the injury news to Andy Dalton. Which way will this line move by kickoff?

Eagles Lucky To Edge Out New York Giants

The Philadelphia Eagles are just 2-4-1 on the season and are lucky to be in that position. In each of their two wins, they were trailing in the fourth quarter. That included Thursday’s game where the Giants had an 11-point lead with under five minutes to play.

The good news for the Eagles is they’ve showed a pulse over the last month or so. They beat the San Francisco 49ers on the road, battled hard in comebacks against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens, and earned a win over the Giants.

A big change has been the play of quarterback Carson Wentz, who posted QBR’s of 53.0 or lower in his first three games along with just three touchdowns and six interceptions. He’s had QBR’s above that mark in three of his last four with seven touchdowns and four interceptions.

Wentz still has 12 turnovers on the season, which is quite ugly. However, if the Eagles can cut down on those turnovers, they should be in the driver’s seat in this feeble division.

Cowboys Are Crumbling

Dallas continues to crumble right before our very eyes. Favored to win the division at the beginning of the season, the Cowboys are now 2-5 after an embarrassing 25-3 loss at Washington on Sunday. Injuries, of course, are a huge factor as the team is extremely banged up – especially the offense. They can now add quarterback Andy Dalton to the list as he was knocked out of Sunday’s game.

Beyond the injuries, though, is the fact that the Cowboys look like a really poorly coached team. They don’t look like they’re properly prepared each week and they’re not fighting hard for their head coach Mike McCarthy. A week after getting humiliated at home by the Arizona Cardinals, the Cowboys didn’t have any more pep in their step on Sunday.

Sunday’s 22-point loss to Kyle Allen’s Washington Football Team was particularly unnerving. They lost the turnover battle, gained only 12 first downs and produced a meager 142 yards of offense. That comes on the heels of a 28-point home loss to Arizona. They’re just not very competitive these days.

Which Way Will The Line Move?

Both teams are dealing with key injuries – especially along the offensive lines – but one team is still fighting while one team looks like they’re mailing it in. The Eagles have been scrappy over the last month and Carson Wentz has played relatively well. Meanwhile, Dallas is pulse-less and bettors know that.
