  • The Los Angeles Chargers will be missing WR Keenan Allen and Mike Williams for their SNF game against the San Francisco 49ers
  • 49ers DT Arik Armstead is also out for the game
  • Impact of all of the Los Angeles Chargers vs San Francisco 49ers inactives and injuries for Sunday Night Football are assessed in the following story

As he’s facing the San Francisco 49ers and their NFL-leading defense, Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert will be doing so without the services of his two leading wide receivers. Both Mike Williams (ankle) and Keenan Allen (hamstring) have been ruled out for the Chargers.

Speaking of the San Francisco defense, the 49ers have their own issues along the defensive front. RDT Arik Armstead (foot) is out. LDE Samson Ebukam (Achilles/quad) has an injury designation of doubtful.

It would appear that it’s the Chargers injuries that are making more of an impact on the oddsmakers. Currently,  San Francisco is a 7.5-point home favorite. Public betting is of two minds on this game. San Francisco is drawing the vast majority of the moneyline wagering. However, the Chargers are garnering significant wagering support against the spread in the Chargers vs 49ers betting splits.

Los Angeles Chargers Injury Report

Along with their issues at WR, the Chargers could also be playing without both of their starting tackles. Pro Bowl LT Rashawn Slater is already on IR with a torn left biceps tendon. After originally being ruled out of the season, there’s now hope he might be able to make a late-season return.

This week, starting RT Trey Pipkins III is listed as questionable due to a sprained knee he suffered in last week’s win over the Atlanta Falcons. The rookie was LA’s second-round draft pick.

Weak-side linebacker Chris Rumph II is doubtful due to a  knee injury. He’s playing in place of Joey Bosa, who’s on IR after undergoing surgery on a torn groin.

Chargers kicker Dustin Hopkins (hamstring) is out. He will be missing his third consecutive game.

San Francisco 49ers Injury Report

For the 49ers, perhaps the biggest news is about who is no longer part of the injury report. Injury designations have been removed from starting WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring) and Jauan Jennings (hamstring).

Running back Elijah Mitchell (knee) is being activated from IR. That’ll give the Niners a solid 1-2 punch in the backfield along with recently-acquired Christian McCaffrey. Mitchell hasn’t played in two months. Fullback Kyle Juszczyk (finger) and linebacker Dre Greenlaw (calf) are also good to go.

Activation from IR of starting strong side linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair (knee), backup LT Colton McKivitz (sprained left MCL), and backup RDE Jordan Willis (knee) is also strengthening and deepening San Francisco’s depth chart. On the flip side, the team was placing backup RCB Jason Verrett (knee) on IR. Verrett was suffering an injury in practice this week.

How Could Injuries Affect Chargers vs 49ers Lines?

The returning offensive skill players for the 49ers and the missing skill players for LA are creating some interesting decisions in the Chargers vs 49ers player props. Do you go with a healthy Samuel to have a big bounce back game? It’s really going to be the first time since making the McCaffrey trade with the Carolina Panthers that San Francisco QB Jimmy Garoppolo will be having all of his offensive weapons at his disposal.

Minus Allen and Williams, is an over player on pass receiving yardage for LA’s Joshua Palmer worth pondering? Perhaps you should consider that it will simply ramp up the workload for all-purpose back Austin Ekeler.

Speaking of player props, Hopkins hasn’t played since he was hurt Oct. 19 against the Denver Broncos. He’ll continue to be replaced by Cameron Dicker, who is 4-for-4 on both field goals and extra points.

It’s been a month now since Armstead played. The 49ers have also been missing DT Javon Kinlaw (knee) for a month. He’s on IR.

Expect Hassan Ridgeway and Kevin Givens to be joining Nick Bosa as starters along the DL. However, Hassan Ridgeway and Charles Omenihu also figure to be seeing significant playing time.
