  • Continue reading for a look at the NFL Week 6 injury report.

Final injury reports are in for NFL Week 6, and the injury landscape is an absolute minefield. Superstars are banged up across the board, which drastically alters NFL odds, point spreads, and player props.

The Philadelphia Eagles have a staggering 24 players listed on their injury report, including QB1 Jalen Hurts (blood clot). Meanwhile, the Washington Commanders and Baltimore Ravens are dealing with 21 names each.

When rosters are this battered, it violently shifts the field position battle and forces defensive schemes to adjust on the fly.

These absences present unique opportunities to find value in total points and replacement-player props. Let’s dive into the Week 6 injury landscape to uncover exactly how these situations impact the board and where I am finding the smartest betting angles.

Key Line Movers to Watch

In the modern NFL, only a handful of players have the power to drastically shift point spreads and moneylines. When betting into this week’s slate, pay special attention to the following situations.

Lamar Jackson, QB, Baltimore Ravens

Jackson is out with an ankle issue, totally reshaping the betting outlook for Baltimore’s road matchup against the Cleveland Browns. The Ravens opened as heavy 6.5-point favorites with a -275 moneyline.

Without his elite pocket presence and ability to extend third down conversions, the best-available spread crashed to Ravens -3. Their moneyline also plummeted to -168.

This absence fundamentally alters Baltimore’s offensive ceiling. It significantly lowers their red zone efficiency against standard defensive sets, making the Browns an intriguing look. Check the NFL starting QB odds market for updates on backup valuations.

Tyler Huntley will assume the starting role. The former Browns quarterback (in preseason) has two starts against Cleveland, going 1-1 with a touchdown and an interception. His most impressive outing came in relief of Jackson, though, as he threw for 270 yards and a touchdown in a furious failed comeback attempt in 2021.

Jalen Hurts, QB & Saquon Barkley, RB, Philadelphia Eagles

Already missing Saquon Barkley, the Eagles opened as slight favorites against the Panthers. But then things went from bad to worse when Jalen Hurts was diagnosed with blood-clot issues that will keep him out indefinitely.

Once news broke that Hurts would miss this contest, bettors pounded Panthers. The best-available spread moved to Panthers -3.5. The Eagles’ moneyline flipped from a near pick ’em (-103) to +147 underdogs.

Without their primary offensive weapons, Philadelphia’s offense will struggle to sustain drives, negatively impacting their turnover differential and time of possession.

Tanner McKee will get the start in Hurts’ place. The Stanford product has two NFL starts to his name, along with five passing touchdowns and one interception. He is 1-1.

Baker Mayfield, QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Mayfield’s thumb injury is a massive red flag for a throwing hand. He did not practice, and he will miss yet another game. The Pittsburgh Steelers are currently 2.5-point road favorites against the Buccaneers.

Undrafted free agent Jalon Daniels will make his third consecutive start for the Bucs. After a less-than-ideal first start, Daniels had a clean 212 total yards and a touchdown en route to an upset win on TNF last week. Daniels nearly doubled his passer rating (65.0 to 110.2) and guided the Bucs to their first win of the season.

Diving into historical NFL ATS records shows that backup quarterbacks facing top-tier defenses struggle mightily. Under Mike Tomlin, the Steelers were particularly adept at beating inexperienced quarterbacks, and it’s likely that the trend continues under Mike McCarthy. I’d watch for Pittsburgh defensive props, including anytime sacks and defensive touchdowns.
