  • Baltimore set the early benchmark for scoring by torching Miami for 59 points in Week 1
  • Bettors can now wager on whether any team will score at least 60 points in a game during the 2019 regular season
  • “No” is heavily favored at -500

Week 1 of the NFL season kicked off with a bang as the Baltimore Ravens absolutely destroyed the Miami Dolphins 59-13. The huge output from Lamar Jackson and company has led to a prop on the highest single-game output from any team during the 2019 regular season.

The odds of any team reaching the 60-point plateau were set at a long +300.

Will Any NFL Team Score More Than 59 Points in 2019?

Prolific Patriots Visit Floundering Dolphins in Week 2

If the “Yes” is going to hit for this bet, it could happen as soon as Week 2 when the Patriots head to Miami as massive 19-point favorites. Will the Patriots beat Baltimore’s point total and lay another beating on the Fins?

The Patriots made Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers look bad in Week 1, crushing Pittsburgh 33-3. Tom Brady completed 24 of 36 passes for 341 yards and three touchdowns. Receiver Josh Gordon caught three passes for 73 yards and a touchdown while Phillip Dorsett finished the game with four receptions for 95 yards and two scores against Pittsburgh.

In Week 2, they could have All-Pro receiver Antonio Brown at their disposal, as well (though his status remains unclear as of Wednesday).

But hitting 60 is a rare feat. It’s only happened twice since the turn of the century and it didn’t happen once in the 1990s, according to mcubed.net.

Date Score
2011 Saints 62 – 7 Colts
2000 Jaguars 62 – 7 Dolphins
1989 Bengals 61 – 7 Oilers

Given their Week 1 pounding of the Dolphins, Baltimore could run up the score again at home against Arizona. The Cardinals only won three games in 2018 and have one of the most talent-poor defenses in the league.

Plus, Lamar Jackson is clearly playing with a chip on his shoulder.

The dynamic runner proved he’s a true dual-threat QB in Week 1, throwing for 324 yards and five touchdowns while recording an 85.0 completion percentage.

Saints/Rams Could Be High-Scoring

The Saints and Rams also play in Week 2 on Sunday. The Saints are coming off a stunning, last-minute 30-28 win over the Texans. They started slow, but the final minutes showcased their ability to put up points in a hurry.

New Orleans figured in the highest-scoring games of 2016 and 2017 and boast one of the NFL’s great quarterbacks in Drew Brees.

Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara are among the league’s best offensive players and coach Sean Payton’s aggressive game plans further bolster the Saints’ offensive prowess.

The Best Bet

There are a handful of games that could see truly gaudy point totals this season, indeed this week. But it’s still unlikely that we will see a team score 60 points in a game. Go with the “No” at -500.

Pick: No team will score 60 points in 2019 (-500)
