Odds to Be Traded Before 2020 NFL Trade Deadline – Are Stephon Gilmore, AJ Green, JJ Watt and Others on the Move?

November 3rd is a big day on the calendar. Yes, there’s that little matter of the US Presidential election but there is other movement that could be culminating then. November 3rd also happens to be the NFL trade deadline.
Who’s coming and who’s going will be debated on social media and talk radio for the next week, almost as much as Biden and Trump. Just like the election, there are plenty of prop wagers out there to be played on the future of NFL players who figure to be on the market.

Some high-end talent, such as Houston Texans defensive end JJ Watt, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver AJ Green, New England Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore, and the Atlanta Falcons duo of quarterback Matt Ryan and wideout Julio Jones are hearing their names mentioned in trade talk.
Watts Up With JJ?
Defensive linemen have proven popular in the early NFL trade market, especially pass rushers. The Baltimore Ravens grabbed Yannick Ngakoue from the Minnesota Vikings. The Detroit Lions snared Everson Griffen from the Dallas Cowboys.
Watt, 31, would most certainly be the prize acquisition at this position. Rumors have linked the three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year to both the New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals.

The Texans already traded away three-time All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to Arizona. That misguided move certainly played a role in costing coach-GM Bill O’Brien his job.
Dealing five-time All-Pro Watt away, perhaps even to the same team, would leave Texans fans in an uproar. Then again, this club also dealt All-Pro DE Jadeveon Clowney last season, so don’t put it past Houston to do it again.

AJ in Search of Greener Pastures?
There’s already been a couple of WR moves, both involving reclamation projects. The Ravens lured Dez Bryant out of retirement, while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the latest team to roll the dice on the potential tire fire that is Antonio Brown.
Every year at this time, it seems like there’s a lot of buzz around Green. And every year, he stays in Cincinnati.

Even though Green is adamant that he wants to remain in Cinci, there’s a sense that this year could be different.
Still, he’s an aging wideout on a bad team and a one-year contract who looks like he’s lost a step. Green has also missed 29 games via injury since 2016.
The Bengals must be willing to give Green away for a cheap price. If they are, expect there to be interest from the Green Bay Packers, Patriots and San Francisco 49ers.

Gilmore or Less?
A year ago, Stephon Gilmore was on top of the world. He was the most dominant player on the NFL’s best defensive team. That performance earned him NFL DPOY honors.
One year later, is he poised to be pushed out of New England? It would seem that there is substance to this speculation.
Patriots CB Stephon Gilmore has put his Foxborough home up for sale.
Gilmore also said he wants all offers on his home to be made no later than “November 3rd,” The same day as the NFL trade deadline.

The 2-4 Patriots are shopping Gilmore to gauge what return his departure could bring to the team. Evidently, accepting that his days in Pats-land are numbered, reports are that Gilmore has listed his Foxborough, Mass. home for sale.
Both the Seattle Seahawks and Tennessee Titans could use some help in the secondary and would be logical suitors. And don’t even count out Gilmore heading to New England south to join Tom Brady and Gronk in Tampa Bay.

Quarterback Depth Anyone?
If there’s a position where suiting up a viable backup is vital for a contending team, it’s at quarterback. And it just so happens there are a few of them who are available.
No, not Ryan. The Falcons won’t be moving on from Matty Ice. But Miami’s Ryan Fitzpatrick, Tyrod Taylor of the LA Chargers and Washington’s Dwayne Haskins are intriguing entities.

The problem with the first two is that their current teams (the Dolphins and Chargers) – are starting rookie QBs (Tua Tagovailoa and Justin Herbert, respectively) and might prefer to keep the vet around as a mentor. Haskins, though, already appears to have worn out his welcome in Washington.
He wants out. They want him gone. His departure seems inevitable.
