The Eagles (8-0, 4-0 home) bid for a perfect season continues on Monday Night Football as they host the Commanders (4-5, 2-2 away). Philadelphia trounced Washington 24-8 back in Week 3, but bettors are torn in the NFL public betting trends on whether or not we’ll see another blowout tonight.

As we’ll explore, the spread ticket count and handle are nearly identical. The Eagles are currently favored by 10.5 points, after opening at -10, while the under is garnering slightly more money than the over when it comes to the total market.

Commanders vs Eagles ATS Betting Splits

As of early Monday afternoon, 52% of the spread wagers and 52% of the spread handle are on the Commanders +10.5. Washington is 4-4-1 against the spread on the season and has covered or pushed in all three of Taylor Heinicke’s starts.

Heinicke was not under center when these two teams met earlier this season, but he’s been a cover machine over the last year. He’s 8-2-1 ATS over his past 11 starts, with one of those spread losses coming by half a point. One of our experts is on Heinicke and Co. to cover in the Commanders vs Eagles picks, but before you go racing to place your wager consider the following.

The Washington offense hasn’t exactly been humming over the past month as we’ll examine later, and the matchup with a Philly defense that ranks second per DVOA will be exceptionally tough. When these two teams met in Week 3, the Eagles sacked Carson Wentz nine times and held the Commanders to 3.2 yards per play.

Philadelphia enters play with a 5-3 record against the spread, covering in all four of their home games. They’ve beaten the number in Philly by an average of 7 points per contest, and are 1-1 ATS this season when laying double-digits.

Washington vs Philadelphia Total Betting Splits

These two teams produced just 32 points when they met in September, and bettors are pessimistic about a high-scoring affair tonight. 56% of all money wagered on the total is backing under 43.5, and that handle is coming off just 41% of the over/under tickets.

The Eagles are a rare mix of phenomenal offense and outstanding defense. They rank second in points for, averaging over 28 a game, and third in points against, yielding only 16.9 per outing. They’ve held six of eight opponents below 18 points, including each of their past four.

Philly’s pass defense grades out second per DVOA, and is surrendering just 177 yards through the air per game. That makes Heinicke an easy fade in the Commanders vs Eagles player props, while his receivers aren’t that enticing either. Washington ranks 27th in scoring and hasn’t topped 17 points in six of its past seven.

Philadelphia’s offense is likely to find success against a middling Washington defense, but the Eagles have a tendency to take their foot off the gas. Philly averages over 20 points per game in the first half, but just 8 points over the final 30 minutes.

Another reason to be bullish on the under: Washington is 3-6 to the under this season, failing to clear the total by an average of 4 points per outing.

Commanders vs Eagles Moneyline Betting Splits

Anytime a large favorite is playing on Monday Night Football, you can bet the majority of the moneyline wagers will be on them. If that large favorite is also a heavily backed public team, like the Eagles, oddsmakers will have a hard time finding takers to back the ‘dog on the moneyline.

This week is no exception. 87% of the moneyline tickets are on Philly, as is 86% of the moneyline handle. Most of those wagers are likely tied up in parlays, as few people are simply laying -500 on a team to win on their own.

Neither team is experiencing any new or surprising injuries per the Commanders vs Eagles injury report, but we will be robbed of seeing Wentz face his former team for the first time in Philly.

Philadelphia has beaten Washington in three consecutive meetings and is 9-2 straight up against its division rival dating back to 2017.
