Unbelievable, record setting and for the preseason prognosticators out there, odds-defying. Those are some of the words and phrases that can be used to describe the Boston Bruins’ performance so far this season.
Following a win over Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers, the favorites in the Stanley Cup odds conclude their four-game Northwestern road trip in Calgary as they look to win a season-high 8th straight game. Faceoff is set for 9:00 pm ET on Tuesday, February 28th in a game that can be seen on Sportsnet and NESN.
Calgary looks to bounce back at home after losing two in a row. Check out the Bruins vs Flames odds below, while we offer up our best bet and pick for this matchup.
Bruins vs Flames Odds
Game Time | Team | Puck Line | Total | Moneyline |
---|---|---|---|---|
Tuesday, February 28th | Boston Bruins | -1.5 (+195) | O 6 (+100) | -135 |
9:00 PM | Calgary Flames | +1.5 (-240) | U 6 (-130) | +105 |
Despite playing their fourth game in six days and the second half of a back-to-back, the Bruins are still -135 moneyline favorites to take down the struggling Flames.
After Jeremy Swayman played against the Oilers, number one netminder, Linus Ullmark will be back between the pipes tonight. The over/under for this contest is set at 6 goals and Ullmark has not allowed more than two tallies in a game since the all-star break.

Bruins On Pace to Set NHL Record
As if they needed to get any stronger, the Bruins added Dmitry Orlov and Garnet Hathaway in a trade with the Capitals last week. This all comes amidst their third streak of seven wins this season. With a win against Calgary, they’ll set a season high for consecutive victories.

Gathering 97 points from 59 games so far this campaign, Boston is on pace to set an NHL record for most points in a single season.
NHL Teams – Most Points in a Season
Team | Season | Record | Points | Points Pct. |
---|---|---|---|---|
Boston Bruins | 2022-23 | 46-8-5 | 135* (On Pace) | .822 |
Montreal Canadiens | 1976-77 | 60-8-12 | 132 | .825 |
Detroit Red Wings | 1995-96 | 62-13-7 | 131 | .799 |
Montreal Canadiens | 1977-78 | 59-10-11 | 129 | .806 |
Tampa Bay Lightning | 2018-19 | 62-16-4 | 128 | .794 |
Unlike the Oilers, who the Bruins defeated 3-2 last night, Boston excels on both offense and defense. They are third overall in goals per game and the best squad in the NHL at keeping pucks out of their net by a wide margin.
In Ullmark, they have a netminder who is the chalk in the Vezina Trophy odds, and also own a likely finalist in the Hart Trophy odds in winger David Pastrnak.
Top 10 NHL goals leaders, to date:
1. Connor McDavid, 50
2. David Pastrnak, 42
3. Mikko Rantanen, 40
3. Tage Thompson, 40
5. Kirill Kaprizov, 37
6. Leon Draisaitl, 36
6. Bo Horvat, 36
6. Jack Hughes, 36
6. Brayden Point, 36
10. Jason Robertson, 35— David Pagnotta (@TheFourthPeriod) February 28, 2023
Second to only Connor McDavid in goals, it’ll be interesting to see the amount of money the B’s will need to dish out to keep their all-star sniper, but raising the Stanley Cup above his head will likely go a long way in keeping the band together for the future.
Flames Need To Turn it Up in Race for Postseason
Time is slowly running out on the Calgary Flames season. After starting the year as one of the Stanley Cup favorites, the Flames are right on the edge of the current NHL playoff odds.
They currently sit 9th in the Western Conference, four points behind the Kraken who occupy the last Wild Card spot. Goaltending has been a major issue this campaign, as Jacob Markstrom has severely underperformed. Expect tactical head coach Darryl Sutter to have his team clamp down in a big way against the NHL’s top squad.
Bruins vs Flames Same-Game Parlay Picks
Pick | Odds |
---|---|
Calgary Flames +1.5 | -240 |
David Pastrnak to Score a Goal | -150 |
Elias Lindholm 1+ Points | -128 |
PARLAY ODDS | Â +370 |
Calgary has given up at least three goals in four straight and they won’t have much of a chance if they need to score four against a Bruins squad that has held opponents to three or fewer markers in eight of their last nine.
Bruins vs Flames Pick & Prediction
The Bruins have played eight back-to-backs this season and own a 6-2 straight up record on no days rest, so they’ve shown they can battle through the fatigue.
However, each previous time they went for an 8th consecutive win this year, their streak has been stopped and both times, those losses were on the road. Our prediction contains an element of surprise, as we like the underdogs to come out with a straight up victory in the Tuesday NHL odds.
Both Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron got hurt against the Oilers although they both returned to finish the game. Another forward, Taylor Hall missed the game with a lower-body injury. Yes, Boston is far and away the best team in the league, but we feel the Bruins are ripe for an upset, so pick the Flames to get back in the win column.
