  • Winnipeg hosts the Heritage Classic with a four-game skid hanging over it
  • The Canadiens vs Jets odds price this outdoor game close to a coin flip
  • Read my Canadiens vs Jets prediction and Heritage Classic best bets below

The Heritage Classic heads to Winnipeg tonight as the Jets (4-3-3) host the Montreal Canadiens (5-3-2) outdoors at Princess Auto Stadium. Puck drop is 7 p.m. ET (6 p.m. CT, 4 p.m. PT) on Sportsnet, TVA Sports, TNT, truTV and HBO Max.

These two clubs arrive in very different moods. Montreal beat Chicago 4-1 on Friday and comes in rested, while Winnipeg has dropped four straight. The Canadiens will be without Nick Suzuki, who’s out two to four weeks with an upper-body injury.

Outdoor games have their own feel, but this one still comes down to shots, goaltending and special teams. My Canadiens vs Jets prediction is below, along with the latest odds and my favourite Heritage Classic best bets.

54%

My Canadiens vs Jets prediction is Montreal to win. Buying Yes at 54¢ on Kalshi means the market is giving the Canadiens a 54% implied probability of winning. If Montreal wins, each contract pays out $1.

The shot numbers are why I’m on Montreal. The Canadiens average 29.5 shots per game and allow 25.5, while Winnipeg is getting outshot 29.9 to 26.5. The Jets have also lost four in a row, and moving outside doesn’t fix that on its own.

Losing Suzuki stings, since he had 12 points (5 goals, 7 assists) in nine games. But Cole Caufield has six goals on 36 shots, and projected starter Jacob Fowler has gone 4-1-0 with a 1.94 GAA and .910 save percentage through five games.

The Canadiens vs Jets odds frame this as a near coin flip, with Kalshi pricing Montreal at 54¢ and Winnipeg at 48¢. FanDuel’s puck line pays +210 (a 32.3% implied chance) if Montreal wins by two or more. BetMGM hangs a flat total of six, with the Over at -105.

Odds as of Oct. 25. Kalshi prices are buy prices, and puck line and total prices are attributed to each sportsbook above. See today’s NHL Odds for the full board.

Heritage Classic Best Bets

  • Over 6 goals (-105 at BetMGM)

My top Heritage Classic best bet is Over 6 goals at BetMGM. The -105 price works out to about a 51.2% break-even, and the whole number helps. Seven goals cashes it, while a 4-2 or 5-1 final pushes and refunds your stake.

Montreal games have been busy at both ends, with the Canadiens scoring and allowing 3.2 goals per game. Winnipeg’s power play runs at 22.2%, and Kyle Connor has nine goals on 44 shots through 10 games. Cole Perfetti has added six more goals.

Goaltending is the risk, since both projected starters have been sharp. Still, outdoor games don’t automatically go Under, and the push protects me if this lands on six. I’ll take the Over in this Canadiens vs Jets matchup.

The Canadiens vs Jets starting goalies are projected, not confirmed. With Connor Hellebuyck now in New Jersey, Stuart Skinner has handled seven games in Winnipeg’s crease. On the injury front, Montreal is without Suzuki, while Jets defenceman Josh Morrissey has missed six games.
