Both teams are over .500 but it is New Jersey coming in on a roll. The Devils have won five straight games including a crazy 4-3 comeback win versus the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday night. They overcame a two-goal deficit in the process.

The Flames lost to the Predators 4-1 on Thursday night. Calgary has lost three consecutive games after starting the season at 5-1.

Calgary has had some issues lately while defending against high-tempo teams. New Jersey will test that tonight.

New Jersey Devils Betting Analysis

New Jersey gave the Edmonton Oilers some of their own medicine on Thursday night. Their pace was wild and entertaining to say the least. Even when the Devils went down two goals after the second period, it never felt like they were out of the game. New Jersey rallied for three goals in the third period including two in a franchise-record seven seconds.

The Edmonton Oilers knew what they were facing in the New Jersey Devils and still, Stuart Skinner could only gamely keep them at bay for so long. New Jersey still scored four goals on over 40 shots. That marked the tenth time in 11 games that the Devils topped 36 shots on goal.

Connor McDavid noted how fast New Jersey was and how much quicker the Devils move the puck now. Look out!

Calgary Flames Betting Analysis

The Calgary Flames started the season winning five out of six games and had fans and oddsmakers buzzing. Since then, the Flames have dropped three games in a row. Expectations are tempered a bit after consecutive one-goal losses. Now, they welcome the “Red Hot Devils” into town.

The problem with Calgary right now is they are struggling a bit defensively. They are generating 36.5 shots per game, which ranks fourth in the league. However, they allowed five goals to Seattle early in the week then four more to Nashville on Thursday night. New Jersey comes in averaging 3.64 goals per contest.

Also, the Flames will continue to need Nazem Kadri along with Jonathan Huberdeau (five points in nine games) to produce.  Jacob Markstrom (+2000), for now, is sixth in the odds to win the Vezina Trophy. The goaltender is 4-2 on the season but only has a .903 save percentage. He needs to pick it up a little for Calgary to start winning games in bunches again.

Calgary Flames Moneyline -165
Total Over 6.5 Goals -120

The Devils are projected to start Vitek Vanecek as Mackenzie Blackwood is out due to an injury. Calgary counters again with Markstrom. Both goalies expect to see a ton of scoring chances. Also, Markstrom has given up three or more goals in three of his previous five starts. Edmonton and New Jersey combined for 80 shots and seven goals. This game could be just as electric on Saturday night.

Expect many scoring chances and watch for some good live betting options similar to last Saturday’s Calgary game.
