Uncharacteristic by their lofty standards, the Hurricanes surrendered four goals in a period to the Kings on Tuesday night, going down 4-1 after 40 minutes. They’ll muster up all the energy they have in an attempt to win their sixth in a row before getting a much deserved rest. Carolina are 6-1 on the back end of playing two nights in a row this season and defeated Buffalo 5-3 back in early-November in the same situation.

Sabres Hungry to Get Back into Playoffs

Thompson is not the only one making a name for himself in Western New York. Although he’s been snubbed for the all-star game, defenseman Rasmus Dahlin is one of only four blueliners with Norris Trophy odds shorter than +1000.
