  • The Minnesota Wild are -120 road favorites over the Nashville Predators in an NHL game scheduled for Sunday, April 24
  • Nashville is 3-0 straight up against Minnesota this season
  • See the Wild vs Predators odds ahead of Sunday’s clash

In Nashville, they refer to the Predators as Smashville but nobody need inform the Minnesota Wild of that fact. In three meetings this season, the Preds haven’t just put a beating on the Wild. They’ve taken Minny out to the woodshed and put a beatdown on them.

Nashville has won those three games from Minnesota by a 19-6 count. The Predators have taken their last three home games from the Wild by a 15-4 margin. In fact, Minnesota is 0-6-2 in the club’s last eight visits to Nashville dating back to 2016.

But Tennessee online sports bettors must be confused when they don’t see that dominance reflected in the odds. It’s the Wild who will take the ice Sunday in Nashville as the -120 road favorites. The Predators are 8-3 SU in their last 11 home games. However, they’re a dismal 0-4 against the spread in the past four home games.

The puck is slated to drop at 8pm ET at Bridgestone Arena. With the playoffs just around the corner, the Wild are set as the +875 third betting choice in this season’s Western Conference odds. Still not assured of playoff hockey, the Predators are given a betting line of +1700 in this future wager.

Left-winger Kevin Fiala is carrying the hot hand for the Wild. He’s showing 4-10-14 totals through the past five games and riding a nine-game point streak. Minnesota’s roster features three 30-goal scorers and six 20-goal scorers.

Minnesota’s 50 wins and 300 goals this season are franchise marks. The Wild have scored three or more goals in 18 of its last 20 games, outscoring opponents 77-48 since March 16. Minnesota’s 87 first-period goals are an NHL high.

For Nashville, defenseman Roman Josi, who charged into contender status in the Norris Trophy odds with a sensational month of March, is two assists shy of 400 for his NHL career.  He’s leading all NHL defensemen in scoring with 20-69-89 totals.

Thanks to forwards Matt Duchene (40) and Filip Forsberg (39), the Preds are one of three NHL teams with two players having scored 39 or more goals. Duchene is the first 40-goal scorer in franchise history.

Minnesota vs Nashville Injury Report

The Wild are without some fairly vital pieces. Captain and left-winger Marcus Foligno (COVID-19 protocol), left-winger Jordan Greenaway (upper body) and defenseman Matt Dumba (upper body) are all out indefinitely. Right-winger Mats Zuccarello  (lower body) will miss Sunday’s game.

Center Michael McCarron (upper body) and defenseman Jeremy Lauzon (leg) are both listed as week-to-week by the Predators. Right-winger Matt Luff (Non-COVID illness) is day-to-day.

Might Red Wings Debut Hellberg?

Minnesota coach Dean Evason has basically rotated Marc-Andre Fleury and Cam Talbot since acquiring Fleury from Chicago. That means it should be Talbot’s turn between the pipes.

Talbot extended his career-high point streak to 14 games (11-0-3) in his last start. He is 12-0-3 in his last 15 games as a starter.

The Predators are in Tampa Bay Saturday to face the Lightning, so they’ll be coming home to face the second game of back to backs. They’re 5-5-2 SU in that scenario this season but 2-0 SU when facing the Wild in the second game on consecutive days.

It’s hard to ignore Nashville’s long run of success against Minnesota. Bet with the NHL trend.

Pick: Nashville Predators ML  (+100)
