NASCAR 2019 Toyota Owners 400 Odds & Picks

The Toyota Owners 400 is on tap for Saturday, April 13th at 7:30 p.m. ET. After a win last week, Kyle Busch is again favored to wave the checkered flag this weekend. Is anyone going to stop him, or is he going to cash in again?

Bet Busch… Again

It felt somewhat repetitive to put Busch among our picks last week, but lo and behold, he won again. Busch continued his incredible start to the season with a victory in last week’s Food City 500 at Bristol. The driver of the No. 18 Toyota has now won three of the last five races and has only finished outside of the top 10 once this season.

Taking a look ahead to this week’s track, Busch has won this race five times before. That’s the most among active drivers. In fact, Richard Petty is the only driver in NASCAR history with more victories than Busch at this event. His car is running great now and he’s driving at an incredible level. He should be in your picks this week – even if its just a top 10.

Cashing in With Keselowski?

Keselowski has cooled off a bit over the past couple of weeks with back-to-back finishes outside of the top 10. However, his history at this track is why we’ll be investing.

Keselowksi has averaged a seventh-place finish in his last three appearances in this race. He has three top 10’s in his last four starts at Richmond. He is also just one of three drivers that have recorded multiple victories so far this season. After a couple of bad weeks, I’d expect him to be back in the mix.

Bet the Other Busch Too?

The elder Busch finished second last week as his brother edged him. However, that placing was no aberration. Very quietly, he now has six top 10’s on the year in eight outings and is eighth in the standings.

He has a decent track record at Richmond, which is what leads me to invest. He has a pair of wins in 36 starts and has top 10’s in seven of his last 12 starts here. At 20/1, he’s worth a flier but if you’d prefer a safer bet, a top 10 prop might work well in this spot.

Pass on Harvick

Harvick is tied with Keselowski and Logano at +700, and while he’s been consistent this season, he still hasn’t won a race. He might be due for a win but we could be saying that months from now too.

On top of that, Harvick hasn’t won at Richmond since 2013. Yes, he has a ton of close calls, including five top 5’s in his last six starts, but we’re looking for wins here. He hasn’t won on the NASCAR circuit recently or at Richmond, which leads me to stay away. I need a bigger payout to invest.
