It’s Marseille vs PSG  in Ligue 1 on Sunday, February 26 at the Orange Vélodrome with a 2:45 pm ET kick-off. The visitors start the game as narrow favorites in the Marseille vs PSG odds.

With these teams first and second in the Ligue 1 table and separated by just five points, this Le Classique has more of an edge than normal. A win for Igor Tudor’s team men would move to within just two points of the champions.

We preview our Marseille vs PSG picks, look at the odds, and offer some analysis, team news, and predictions below.

Marseille vs PSG Odds

Matchup Moneyline
Marseille +175
PSG +145

It’s not often that PSG are listed in plus money in a Ligue 1 clash but this is one of those rare occasions. The oddsmakers still make the Parisiens favorites though at +145 for the away win, which equates to a probability of 41%. Les Olympiens are listed at +175 for the win with a probability of 36%. The draw, at +270, is implied at 27%.

Marseille vs PSG Over/Under and Spread

The bookies are anticipating goals in this one and with the benchmark pitched at 2.5, the under is offered at a tempting +130 and the over at a less enticing -165.

Marseille vs PSG Preview

There will be no inferiority complex from Les Olympiens – as is often the case with the opponents of PSG – as earlier this month they knocked them out of the Coupe de France in the round-of-16. Their current form is good and they come into this off the back of a thrilling 3-2 away win in Toulouse last Sunday.

That win consolidated their second place in the table – just five points behind PSG – and kept them two points clear of third-placed Monaco, who are chasing them hard.

No Home Comforts for Marseille

Despite Marseille’s title charge suffering a wobble at the back end of 2022, they responded well in the new year and have won nine of their 11 matches in all competitions in 2023. Worth noting though is that they have performed better away from home than they have at the Velodrome, with 29 points of their 52 having been won on the road.

All of this adds up to a tricky task for Marseille against PSG, especially when you consider they have won only three of their last eight Ligue 1 home games and have just two home clean sheets to their name all season.

Galtier’s Job on a Knife Edge

While PSG still leads Ligue 1, it hasn’t been the season of total dominance to which they have become accustomed. Manager Christophe Galtier’s job is on a knife edge and some sections of the French media are reporting that he is one defeat away from the sack.

Whether that will come against Marseille remains to be seen, but his cause was not helped by the Parisiens losing at home in their first-leg round-of-16 Champions League tie against Bayern Munich. Failure to progress could be the final straw for their owners, Qatar Sports Investment, who are notoriously trigger-happy with their managers.

Messi Saves PSG Against Lille

For spells of last Sunday’s game against Lille it looked as if it could be game over for Galtier but an injury-time free-kick winner from Lionel Messi saw them through to a nail-biting 3-2 win. It still wasn’t enough though to hide the problems in a PSG team that’s without a clean sheet in seven and has lost its last two away games.

The quality of this PSG squad usurps any other in Ligue 1 by some distance but off-field uncertainty has eroded away some of their superiority and PSG will be in for a tough afternoon in a noisy and unwelcoming Velodrome.

Marseille vs PSG Prediction

This is tricky to call – as reflected in the odds – because we have an away team that’s under fire from its fans and the Paris media against a home team with some wobbly home form, but let’s not forget it’s still first vs second.

Neymar’s absence as a result of a rolled ankle has not helped PSG’s cause but they still have lots of quality in attacking areas and have more than enough firepower to outscore any opponent. The away win in plus money is, for me, where the value lies.

Marseille vs PSG Pick: PSG to win (+145)
