Coming off League Cup action in midweek, most Premier League managers were able to give their first-teamers a rest. The table is already taking shape as we head into Premier League Matchday 6 of the 2021-22 campaign with Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool occupying four of the top five spots.

Chelsea and Manchester City matchup at Stamford Bridge on Saturday in an early duel between two of the title favorites. Aston Villa head to Old Trafford to face Cristiano Ronaldo’s Manchester United, who are looking to bounce back from League Cup disappointment.

The main batch of Saturday fixtures includes some intriguing ties, none more so than out-of-form Leeds against David Moyes’ West Ham. Southampton hosts Wolves on Sunday before a high-pressure north London derby at Emirates Stadium. Another rivalry will be ignited to round up Matchday 6 when Brighton head to London to face Crystal Palace on Monday.

Everton vs Norwich Prediction

Rafa Benitez has limited options ahead of the visit of Norwich. Jordan Pickford, Seamus Coleman, Richarlison, Fabian Delph and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are all confirmed absentees. There’s uncertainty over the fitness Lucas Digne and Andre Gomes.

A depleted Everton were beaten comprehensively by Aston Villa last weekend, and they fell to QPR on penalties in midweek. Benitez might not have flexibility when it comes to team selection, but his Toffees are still a much more talented group than their Saturday opponents.

It’s been a chastening return to the top flight for Norwich, who have lost all five of their matches so far. The schedule hasn’t been kind, but their performances have hardly inspired confidence. Their -1.25 expected goal difference per 90 is the worst in the league.

Norwich have only scored twice so far this season. They are unlikely to expose the Everton defense in the same way Villa did.

Benitez’s side are the fourth-best when it comes to chance creation this season. Even without their two main men upfront, they should have a fun afternoon against the Canaries. Anything other than a comfortable home win would be a surprise.

Pick: Everton -1 (+180)

Arsenal vs Tottenham Prediction

North London derbies are a big occasion for both clubs. While neither are gunning for the title this season, this feels like a pivotal moment in the early knockings of the 2021-22 campaign.

Arsenal started slowly. The Gunners are looking to build on back-to-back wins. Spurs picked up some good results and kept three straight clean sheets, but they have lost consecutive league matches and capitulated in the second half against Chelsea last weekend.

Having not lost at home to Spurs in the league since 2010, history is on Arsenal’s side. They also welcome back Granit Xhaka for this contest, with the Swiss midfielder expected to partner Thomas Partey in midfield. The battle in the middle third will be key here – Nuno Espirito Santo is likely to bring Oliver Skipp back into the starting XI.

Harry Kane has, once again, not looked like himself to start the season. His London derby record is sensational, and Spurs need him to find that form if they are to take a positive result from the Emirates on Sunday.

The underlying numbers are not pretty for either side. There’s been under 2.5 goals in five of Arsenal’s last six league matches, and Santo will probably be happy to play on the break. A draw is a decent result for both managers given the pressure they are already under – it’s a good price at +220.

Pick: Draw (+220)

Crystal Palace vs Brighton Prediction

Becoming the poster boys for expected goal underachievement last season, Brighton have found their shooting boots in 2021-22. Their win over Leicester last weekend saw them hold onto a top four spot.

It’s been a less positive start for Crystal Palace other than their 3-0 demolition of Tottenham. Their loss to Liverpool was just their second of the season, but it will be interesting to see if Patrick Vieira tweaks his starting lineup here. Summer signing Odsonne Edouard could replace Christian Benteke upfront.

These matches are usually fiery. Two red cards and 23 yellows have been handed out across the last six meetings. It’s going to be a high-paced affair, leaving plenty of space for both attacks to exploit.

Brighton scored less than two goals in just two of their seven matches this season. Both teams have scored in this fixture in the last four matchups.

Over 2.5 goals (+130) looks like a very safe bet, and the odds can be improved further when put into a same-game parlay with Brighton to avoid defeat. Graham Potter’s team are full of confidence right now.

Pick: Over 2.5 goals and Brighton to win or draw (+244)
