Djokovic Continues to Dominate

Once again, Djokovic is playing for history. The 25-year old is looking to win his 22 men’s major singles title, and with a win over Paul, he’ll become one step closer. A win would also push him back up to World No. 1, something he hasn’t had since last year.

After a bit uncertainty early in the tournament, Djokovic has found his groove. The Serb is coming off a straight set win over fifth seed Andrey Rublev, where he won 6-1, 6-2, 6-4.

On route to his win, Djokovic recorded the most aces he’s hit at the tournament this year with 14, alongside five double faults. The biggest serving stats was that he managed an 80 percent win percentage when landing his first serves, while Rublev only managed 62 percent.

Djokovic continues to dominate, and will look to get through Paul when they take to the court at 3:30 am ET.

Paul Continues his Run

It’s been an exciting couple of weeks for the 25-year old. Paul has become the first American man to reach an Aussie Open singles semifinal since Andy Roddick did it in 2009. The American is playing some of the best tennis of his career.

Paul beat out his fellow countryman in the quarterfinals to earn a spot in the semis. He went on to defeat Ben Shelton 7(8)-6(6), 6-3, 5-7, 6-4. Despite Shelton putting up 24 aces to Paul’s seven, Paul managed a 86 win percentage when landing his first serve, following it up with 70 percent when landing his second serve.

He’ll now face his toughest competition of the tournament as he competes in his maiden Grand Slam semifinal.

First Career Meeting

This is the first time Djokovic and Paul will meet, as their head-to-head sits at 0-0.

Djokovic vs Paul Pick

It’s tough to bet against Djokovic anytime, but it’s even harder at the Australian Open. But don’t write off Paul. The American has a lot of momentum going into the semifinals.

Paul has competed in 13 previous Grand Slams, but never managed to get past the fourth round. But he’s only 25-years old.

Yes, Djokovic will most likely win this match, and at -1800 it’s expected, but don’t be surprised if Paul is able to sneak a set, pushing the match to four sets.

Best Bet: Four sets (+265)
