Ruud Continues to be Consistent

Ruud, the two-time Grand Slam finalist has had another consistent year in 2022. He went onto win three tournaments, extending his career titles to nine.

This year he also managed to reach his first Grand Slam final. Ruud say himself up against the King of Clay, Rafael Nadal in the French Open. He ultimately ended up losing, but the experience added to his resume.

From start to finish, his year has been overall quite consistent. But the Norwegian has had his fair share of troubles. He’s found himself in a few early round exits, but would finds ways to bounce back in the following tournament. Unfortunately, he’s entering this tournament after a round of 16 exit at the Paris Masters.

But Ruud is no stranger to the ATP Finals, last year he was a semifinalist. He’ll be looking to have a good showing once again in 2022.

Auger-Aliassime Making his ATP Finals Debut

The young Canadian continues to make a name for himself in the tennis world. This year he won his maiden ATP title, and managed to collect three more.

Out of the four majors, he managed deep runs in two of them, but had early round exits at Wimbledon and US Open. But it was after his early round exit at the US Open that he managed to collect his additional three ATP trophies.

Another highlight of his year would be his 16-match win streak that he was riding through four tournament. It recently came to an end when Holger Rune defeated him at the Paris Masters.

Despite not knowing what to expect from this tournament, Auger-Aliassime should be comfortable and confident heading into the week.

Fourth Career Meeting

This will be the fourth career tour meeting between Ruud and Auger-Aliassime. The two had a couple qualifying matches under their belt prior to seeing each other in 2019. Auger-Aliassime won their first match then.

They’ve already played each other earlier this year, where Ruud won in straight sets. Ruud currently holds the head-to-head edge with a 2-1 lead.

Ruud vs Auger-Aliassime Pick

If this was a different year, or even a different time this year, it might have been Ruud that was the favorite. But unfortunately the 23-year old has crashed at the wrong time, and Auger-Aliassime has peaked at the perfect time.

Because of that the Canadian looks to have the edge heading into this match. While playing some of his best tennis, he’s been able to tighten up his serve and groundstrokes, giving him a strong advantage over his opponents.

Just based on how both players have been playing lately, look for Auger-Aliassime to win this match.

Best Bet: Auger-Aliassime 2-0 (-140)
