Among the thousands of Super Bowl props that sportsbooks open each year, there are a few consistently popular props year after year. One of those is what color of Gatorade will be dumped on the winning coach after the game ends, or the Gatorade bath, if you will. Many sportsbooks are offering Gatorade Color Odds for Super Bowl 60 between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots.

Super Bowl 2026 will take place Sunday, February 8 in Santa Clara, California. On top of seeing the Gatorade Color odds for this year, you can also look back at previous Gatorade baths in the Super Bowl, including the most common Gatorade color and the Gatorade dumped during this same Seahawks vs Patriots matchup 11 years ago.

Super Bowl 60 Gatorade Color Odds

The Gatorade color dumped on Mike Macdonald at the end of Super Bowl 60 was Yellow, meaning “Yellow/Lime or Green” is the correct answer.

As of Sunday afternoon, “Yellow/Lime or Green” has become a heavy favorite to be the Gatorade color dumped on the winning coach of the Super Bowl. Yellow/Lime or Green is given as short as -110 odds at DraftKings, but you can still get it at +150 at bet365 if you want to chase. The odds for this color were as long as +275 late last night.

Odds for the Super Bowl Gatorade color prop came out on January 26, which was just a day after the conference championships, allowing for plenty of time to bet this market. “Orange” opened as the consensus favorite, it has since faded back to the third or fourth-most probable color now.

While there were some massive discrepancies in the odds from one sportsbook to another earlier in the week, we have seen them all come together ahead of Sunday.

As of 3pm ET on Sunday, DraftKings reported “Yellow/Lime or Green” as the most popular bet color for the Gatorade bath at Super Bowl 60. Here’s a quick look at the breakdown of public bets and money on this Super Bowl prop:

• Yellow/Lime or Green: 28% of handle / 22% of bets
• Blue: 20% / 21%
• Purple: 17% / 16%
• Orange: 15% / 17%
• Water/Clear: 10% / 12%
• Red/Pink: 9% / 12%

Action on this market at theScore Bet has been similar! As of Sunday morning, theScore Bet reported 26.3% of the betting handle for Gatorade Color was on Yellow/Lime or Green. However, Yellow/Lime or Green has all that money on it in spite of only having 15.6% of the total bets. This means bigger bets have come in on this color. Blue is the color taking the most bets at theScore Bet.

Past Super Bowl Gatorade Color Results

It’s worth noting that when these two teams met in the Super Bowl 11 years ago, Bill Belichick was hit with a Blue Gatorade bath. The last time the Patriots won the Super Bowl (SB53), they also dumped Blue. The last time the Seahawks won the Super Bowl (SB48), they dumped Orange Gatorade on Pete Carroll.

When you see “clear” in the table above, it generally means water. But the prop is not what type/flavor of Gatorade, just the color. This is why water gets lumped in as “clear”.

• There have been four back-to-back champions in the Gatorade dumping era, with only two of those defending champions using the same color Gatorade in both games – the Dallas Cowboys in Super Bowls 27 and 28 & Chiefs in Super Bowls 57 and 58
• Clear is also suffering the longest drought among Gatorade colors that have been dumped before, not having been used since Super Bowl 42

As mentioned earlier, “clear” has been the color of liquid dumped on the Super Bowl-winning coach most often. It has been seen eight times in total. Orange is the second-most frequent used Gatorade color, having been dumped on the winning coach six times.

Am I the only one who feels the only logical answer for blue not being used more is because it’s everyone’s favorite, and therefore the first cooler that runs dry?

How Often Has There Been No Gatorade Bath in Super Bowl History

There have been 33 Super Bowls where there was no Gatorade bath after the game ended. None of the first 20 Super Bowls included Gatorade (or water) being dumped, and then there have been 13 Super Bowls since Super Bowl 21 where there was no Gatorade dump.

So, there have still been more Super Bowls with no Gatorade bath (33 of 59) than there have been with a Gatorade bath.

When you see “no Gatorade bath” in Gatorade prop betting, this is what you are being given the option to bet – that no Gatorade will be dumped on the winning coach.

What Is the Best Gatorade Color Bet This Year?

Let’s be clear – unless you have physically seen which color Gatorade either the Patriots or Seahawks drink on their sideline this season, trying to predict this prop is nothing more than a guess. Unfortunately, I do not have that info.

Anyone trying to tell you it will be Blue because the Patriots dumped that color on Bill Belichick seven years ago is grasping at straws. It’s not the same Patriots team. The same goes for anyone saying Orange because the Seahawks doused Pete Carroll with that color 12 years ago.

There is no hydration log or Gatorade color info for each NFL team. What we do know is Blue is the best selling flavor in the US. The Super Bowl Gatorade color has also been blue in 3 of the last 7 Super Bowls. So, for those two reasons, I am betting Blue this year.

You must reside in one of the following states in order to bet on the Super Bowl Gatorade Color:

• Wyoming

Arizona and Maryland used to allow betting on the Gatorade bath color for the Super Bowl, but have changed their rules and do not allow it anymore, unfortunately.

That’s just sportsbooks, though! Thankfully, event trading platforms have begun trading on sports futures as well, and it there is potential Kalshi, which is legal in all 50 states, will offer a Gatorade bath market ahead of Super Bowl Sunday. This will be great news for all folks looking for some action, as they will have a legal outlet to trade on one of the more fun Super Bowl novelty props: what color will the Gatorade be that’s dumped on the Super Bowl-winning coach?

How Did the Gatorade Shower Start?

The answer to this depends on who you ask. But it is commonly accepted that the New York Giants started this tradition in 1984. Jim Burt, a defensive lineman for the Giants at the time, was apparently upset with the way head coach Bill Parcells had treated him that week, and decided to dump the cooler of Gatorade on Parcells after beating Washington.

It didn’t immediately become a tradition, though. It wasn’t until those same Giants gave Parcells a Gatorade bath after each win during their 1986-87 season that ended in New York hoisting the Lombardi Trophy. This is the first entry you’ll see in the table at the top of this page.
